      Summary:

      The Associate Vice President of Nursing for the Rush MD Anderson Cancer Center (RMDACC) serves as the senior nursing executive providing operational and strategic leadership across a comprehensive oncology program spanning over three locations, inpatient oncology, ambulatory care, infusion services, and clinical research, with oversight of more than 350 FTEs. This role holds system-level influence over nursing practice, care delivery models, workforce strategy, and quality outcomes across the full cancer continuum, partnering closely with physician and administrative leadership at all levels. RUSH is a nationally ranked cancer program recognized by U.S. News & World Report, operating within a five-time Magnet-designated health system.

      Rush University System for Health and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have partnered to create RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center. The partnership represents advanced clinical and operational integration in the delivery of cancer care, providing Rush patients greater access to cancer treatments and research considered among the best in the world. The AVP of Nursing is a critical driver of both operational excellence and long-term strategic growth.

      Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
      Strategic:
      • Actively develops, implements, and advances nursing strategies aligning with the Rush System for Health and cancer service line strategic plan.
      • Actively participates in strategic planning, policy formulation, problem solving, and management of Cancer Nursing Services as a member of the Nursing Executive Council and Cancer Service Line Leadership
      • Translates the service line vision and strategic plan into measurable goals and sustainable programs.
      • Identifies opportunities and implements systems to improve the value of care and services to patients and families across the care continuum for cancer services.
      • Advance care delivery models that emphasize top of scope practice for nursing, APNs, and standardized scope for non-licensed or other ancillary non-RN personnel, with guidance from state licensure and industry standards of scope
      • Ensure efficient teams’ approach to care, emphasizing value for maximum population health of cancer population.
      • Supports joint ventures, partnerships and other growth initiatives, maximizing standardization across Rush System cancer service line.
      • Lead and executes clinical and nursing practice alignment within these joint ventures, partnerships and other growth initiatives.
      • Leads the evaluation, selection, and integration of healthcare technology and information management systems that support patient care needs.
      • Represents the CNE and Cancer Service Line on committees and other activities ensuring collaboration and liaison with appropriate clinical enterprise-wide groups.
      • Identifies and supports community outreach, philanthropy and marketing initiatives that may enhance the development of new business or research opportunities.
      • Contributes to the advancement of nursing through professional research and scholarly activities.
      Leadership:
      • Advances vision, direction, and leadership to the cancer service line for patient care and nursing practice
      • Collaborates across the Rush System to facilitate excellence in all settings where cancer services are provided to ensure patient needs are met across the continuum of care.
      • Collaborates with the Nursing Executive Team, Chief Nursing Officers, Rush System for Health leadership and the Rush University College of Nursing (RUCON) faculty in research and educational activities.
      • Executes, in collaboration with system nursing leaders, the work of cancer nursing, across the system through the developed cancer nursing councilor structure.
      • Collaborates with service line leadership to provide vision, direction, leadership, and support to the service line nursing staff.
      • Promotes the highest standards of nursing practice across all settings and clinical sites in the Rush System for Health cancer service line., including, but not limited to, direct practice-based care, management of telephone triage, tele-health or e-health communications, nurse-managed clinics, community support services, care coordination and transitions of care.
      • Acts as a change agent and manages service line change efforts to ensure operational effectiveness.
      • Promotes, empowers, and maximizes professional governance structure and demonstrable outcomes in patient care across the cancer service line.
      Operational:
      • Direct oversight of all nursing operations, fiscal efficiency, and staff across the Rush System for health cancer service line
      • Leads program planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts for areas of responsibility both at a strategic and tactical level.
      • Leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of process improvement initiatives for nursing cancer services at the system level.
      • Integrates and advances nursing services and models of care across the continuum in the Rush System for Health cancer service line.
      • Advance the development and implementation of innovation, research, evidence-based practice, and quality and safety initiatives in nursing across the cancer service line.
      • Maintains an environment that promotes patient safety, high reliability of processes and quality outcomes.
      • Leads consistent, ongoing regulatory and accreditation readiness.
      • Assures efficiencies in nursing staffing and resource utilization by comparing internal and external benchmarks as measured by both internal and external productivity measures for responsibility.

      Requirements:

      • MSN required, Doctorate preferred.
      • Expertise and progressive experience in management and/or nursing management 7-10 years preferred.
      • Ability to design complex clinical or administrative systems or programs.

      Responsibilities:
      1.Answers all telephone calls within your work assignment as designated by your leadership with the goals of accurately scheduling patients as determined by departmental and Epic guidelines.

    Summary:
    The Pharmacy Technician III assists licensed pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy performing the duties described in the Technician II position description as well as serving as a role model for other technicians through added responsibilities, specialization in technician pharmacy practice, demonstrating leadership and initiative, and fulfilling the needs of the department.
    The Technician III is actively involved in the training and development process and the development of policies and procedures specific to their practice site and is responsible for the daily technical operations of the area. The Technician III must have the capacity to work effectively and efficiently in areas routinely requiring a higher degree of prolonged technical concentration, liability, and risk.

    Required Job Qualifications:
    • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
    • Current State of Illinois Pharmacy Technician license.
    • Individual must have EXCPT and/or PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification.
    • Individuals licensed BEFORE January 1, 2008 are grandfathered; they are not required to become nationally certified or hold the "Certified" designation to continue working as a registered pharmacy technician in Illinois.
    • At least 6 months of previous experience as a pharmacy technician.
    Preferred Job Qualifications:
    • Two years of college training or its equivalent.
    • ACPE IV certification.
    • Hazardous drug compounding certification.
    Physical Demands:
    • Ability to lift/move 30-50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand for long period of time (4+ hours) between breaks.
    • Ability to crouch when filling dispensing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
    • May be exposed to certain hazardous materials, including but not limited to chemotherapeutic agents.
    • This position requires up to 10% travel. Employee needs to be able to work extended hours due to business needs.

    • Must meet the competency requirements of a Pharmacy Tech II.

    C. Crash Cart restock/outdate process/reporting running

    F. OR/Anesthesia ADC restock/troubleshooting
    G. Pediatrics drug identification and compounding
    H. ADC configuration, set up, troubleshooting, report running, review, and analysis
    I. MPI Prepacker
    J. Storeroom ordering
    K. Recalls; processing, segregating and removing from inventory/ADCs

    • Recognizes and identifies various classifications of medications, medication names, dosage forms and routes of administration.
    • Ability to use available print and online references as appropriate.
    • Understand the pharmacy workflow for first doses, Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) refills, cart fill and batches.
    • Understand the pharmacy workflow for medication returns and medication disposal.
    • Performs pharmaceutical calculations accurately including fundamental math calculations, metric conversions, pharmaceutical dose calculations and parenteral dose calculations.
    • Responsible for the accurate interpretation of EPIC pharmacy labels:
    • Interpretation and understanding of medical abbreviations.
    • Identification and differentiation of various types of medication orders (Scheduled, PRN, Once, STAT, NOW).
    • Ability to appropriately label all medication dosage forms including auxiliary labels for expiration and storage as required.
    • Responsible for the accurate and timely filling and delivery of patient-specific medications and ADC restocks.
    • Ability to troubleshoot ADC equipment (i.e.: failed drawers, inventory, outdates).
    • Ability to utilize technology in the pharmacy including, but not limited to CII Safe, Carousels, DoseEdge, WASP, MILT, RxVerify as needed for assigned duties.
    • Responsible for the preparation of non-sterile compounding and packaging:
    • Ability to accurately draw up oral syringes, compound oral suspensions and other duties as assigned.
    • Recognizes the regulations for repackaging medications and complies with all required labeling and documentation procedures for non-sterile compounding and packaging.
    • Responsible for answering phones, assisting caller with missing medication requests and any other technical duties as assigned.
    • Responsible for utilization of Epic for technical requests (i.e.: missing mediations, ADC out of stock and responding to in-basket messages)
    • Responsible for inventory, storage and supply maintenance of assigned areas.
    • Responsible for training and compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, USP <795>, and aseptic technique practices when preparing sterile and non-sterile products:
    • Recognizes incompatible, unstable and/or expired compounded products.
    • Maintains all required documentation of compounded products and production areas for sterile and non-sterile products.
    • Recognizes investigational drug orders and documentation requirements for preparation and use.
    • Responsible for exchanging emergency carts and completion of required documentation..
    • Responsible for knowing the laws and regulations related to controlled substances.
    • Maintain cleanliness of all equipment and work areas.
    • Knowledge of departmental and Medical Center safety practices.
    • Awareness of departmental quality assurance processes.
    • Actively participates in various departmental committees and educational activities as assigned.
    • Assists supervisor and pharmacist working in the area in the execution of related assignments involving technical support for the department
    • Responsible for participation in the review, revision, and preparation of related policies and procedures for the Department of Pharmacy Policy and Procedure manual.
    • Provides departmental support and leadership in fulfilling departmental staffing needs as required during short staffing situations.
    • Any and all other duties as assigned.

    The Surgical Assistant is a member of the surgical team in the Operating Room, working with the Attending Surgeon(s), Residents, Perfusion, and Registered Nurses, delivering direct patient care before, during and after surgery.     • High School diploma.

    Responsibilities:
    1.Develop ideals and a professional attitude to promote responsibility as an individual and as a member of the surgical team.
    2.Coordination of team efforts to offer the most qualified team support to the surgical patient, surgeon, and all members of the surgical team.

    6.Preparation of patient for surgery including but not limited to surgical scrub preparation, positioning, draping, sterile field maintenance.
    7.Insertion of Foley catheters under the supervision of a physician.
    8.Assists surgeon in tying off and coagulation of vessels as necessary under the supervision of a physician
    9.Acts as surgeon’s second assistant throughout procedures, including holding of retractors and other specific tasks as required.
    10.Assists in patient transfer pre and post operatively from the operating room table.
    11.All invasive procedures are to be under the direction and supervision of a physician
    12.Assists in preparation and application of sterile dressings post operatively.
    13.Performs other duties as necessary during the operative procedure as directed by the surgeon.
    14.Assists surgical team in transporting patients’ pre and post operatively.
    15.Assists surgical team by gathering necessary supplies to include sterile instrument trays, positioning equipment etc.
    16.Assist in coordinating training of new staff in the area as necessary.
    17.In conjunction with operating room personnel to insure the availability of adequate supplies, instruments and equipment for the performance of operative procedures in the area.
    18.Participates in research activities.
    19.Assists in assembly of sterile supplies in the department as necessary. To include checking outdates of sterile supplies.
    20.Assists in stocking of supplies in the department as necessary.
    21.Assists in maintaining Joint Commission standards, utilizing downtime to survey the department and correct problems as necessary.
    22.Performs related duties as required by the department of operating room services.
