      The Department of Diagnostic Radiology & Nuclear Medicine at Rush University Medical Center is seeking an Abdominal Imaging radiologist at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join our well-established department in Chicago, IL. Join a collegial group of 28 sub-specialized radiologists serving Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Rush Oak Park Hospital in Oak Park, and numerous outpatient facilities in the Chicagoland area.

      Clinical duties include interpreting body MRI, CT, and ultrasound examinations and consulting with referring physicians. The selected candidate will work closely with radiology residents, body imaging fellows, and medical students from Rush Medical College. In addition, the candidate will collaborate professionally and academically with professionals from surgery, oncology, hepatology, gastroenterology, urology, radiation oncology, and organ transplant services. There are also opportunities to participate in administration, research, hospital committees, and quality initiatives. Equipment includes 10 clinical MRI magnets, 3T research magnet, 12 CT scanners (including dual-energy CT systems), and a state-of-art photon-counting CT.

      About Rush Connect Primary Care

      Rush Connect Primary Care is redesigning how patients access and experience primary care. The model blends the flexibility of virtual care with the engagement of in-person visits to expand reach, strengthen relationships, and improve outcomes. Care is delivered by a cohesive multidisciplinary team and supported by digital tools, evidence-based workflows, and outcome-driven metrics.

      Model Highlights:

      • Hybrid Work Structure Three (3) virtual care days (~9 hours/day) and one (1) in-person clinic day (~12 hours) per week, supported by standardized operational workflows.
      • Panel Ownership The physician leads a multidisciplinary team and maintains ultimate responsibility for a dedicated patient panel.
      • Team-Based Care A shared care team—including an APP, RN, MA, social worker, and pharmacist—delivers proactive, coordinated care under physician leadership.
      • Proactive Population Management  Includes direct oversight of chronic care management (CCM), remote patient monitoring (RPM), preventive screening, and care gap closure.
      • Technology Integration Use of Epic, care management platforms, team communication tools, and clinical decision support systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Serve as the lead clinician and panel owner, accountable for all clinical care decisions, population outcomes, and care quality for your assigned patients.
      • Provide direct patient care during both virtual and in-person days, including new and follow-up visits, chronic condition management, preventive care, and diagnostic coordination.
      • Guide and collaborate with the APP and care team to deliver timely, comprehensive, and equitable care across settings.
      • Conduct and document care using Epic, leveraging integrated technology to manage results, tasks, and patient communication.
      • Participate and lead in team huddles, performance reviews, and structured improvement initiatives focused on quality, access, and population health.

      Qualifications:

      • MD or DO, Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
      • Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois
      • Minimum of 1–2 years in outpatient primary care preferred
      • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary care teams and drive population-level outcomes
      • Strong digital literacy, including experience with EHR systems (Epic preferred) and care coordination platforms

      Summary:

      11.Assists each mother in obtaining evidence-based breast pump for in-home use, either through rental, Medicaid pump program, or purchase, providing personalized insurance letter as needed. Ensures that each mother is encouraged to use the hospital grade breast pump during all NICU visits, emphasizing the ease of pumping at the infant's bedside.
      12.Monitors maternal milk volume and communicates information regarding availability of colostrum, mature milk, and of overflow milk stored in off-unit deep freezers with the health care team.
      13.Initiates and completes a Coming to Volume® Record (CTVR) for each mother with an infant in the NICU daily for the first two weeks; assesses milk volume with each mother on a weekly basis thereafter.
      14.Quickly intervenes with low volume results providing repeat thorough pump assessment; develops plan to increase milk volume, overcome lactation problems, and maintain adequate milk supply including providing information regarding appropriate options for obtaining and using galactogogues. Provides daily/frequent communication with mother using galactogogue.
      15.Explains, demonstrates, and provides specific tearsheet with instructions regarding the safe storage, handling, collecting, labeling, and transport of her milk (via insulated bag) and the importance of proper hand washing and cleansing/sterilization of milk collection equipment.
      16.Demonstrates use of maternal milk labels (including My Mom Pumps for me! ®, AKA), to ensure that milk is properly identified for each infant.
      17.Explains the difference among: colostrum, fresh, frozen, and hind and fore milk; instructs and assists with variations in milk collection when needed.

    Summary:

    Summary:
    Provides Department leadership to achieve strategic priorities, goals, and change initiatives. Influences the development and implementation of short and long term strategic plans for the Department. Develops long-term strategic & operational staffing plan. Maintains a collaborative relationship with physicians, departmental providers, administrative, academic, clinical & research leaders regarding operational, marketing and strategic issues. Translates goals into actionable business tactics that are aligned with the strategic plans of the department, the medical group, the hospital and the medical center. Engages physicians in a manner that supports best clinical practices and promotes effective management of clinical and financial resources. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities:
    1.Identifies industry opportunities and threats and recommends strategies to address. Consults with colleagues for best practices and industry trends. Determines the value/cost benefit of resource investments for future growth of the service line.
    2.Initiates proposals for improved market position, patient experience, operational efficiency, and patient safety with input from Department leadership. Oversees clinical, business and academic operations including implementation and adherence to policies and procedures, patient experience, safety and quality goals.
    3.Monitors key performance indicators, scorecards, patient feedback, and financial reports at a departmental and individual level to ensure the data and that the Department remains on course to meet or exceed operational goals.
    4.Provide feedback to the leadership for any potential corrective actions.
    5.Partners with Department Chair to support achievement of provider goals, research study success, and appropriate resident and student experience.
    6.Tracks and reports physician driven revenue and expenses.
    7.People Leadership: Provides oversight of staff including compliance with ICARE values, department procedures and workflows, and completion of performance review process, on-boarding/off-boarding, credentialing and re-credentialing.
    8.Assists Chair in the management of faculty conflicts of interest (Research & Clinical). Direct reports may include operational managers, research administrators, nursing management, residency/fellowship coordinators, and staff positions as applicable.
    9.Participate in the physician recruitment & pro-forma development process.
    10.Oversight of all Departmental HR decisions.
    11.Responsible for hiring strong talent with appropriate competencies and skill mix. Monitors staff recruitment, talent development, physician manpower plan & performance management.
    12.Monitors staffing metrics including turnover, key retention indicators, orientation practices, physician compensation.
    13.Structures work environment that is supportive of a highly engaged and effective work force. Monitors physician and employee engagement and makes recommendations to improve work culture as necessary.
    14.Encourage employees to understand Rush goals and Healthcare Industry trends by attending town hall meetings, conferences, community events and reading Rush-wide communications.
    15.Identifies opportunities to expand employees' professional knowledge and responsibilities, and supports their career aspirations. Maintain regular, two-way communication with staff to understand their work issues and concerns and to build their understanding of Rush and the Department.
    16.Assures financial performance of Department is consistent with institutional practices and budget expectations.
    17.Prepares and manages annual operating and capital budget for Department, including GME, Research, and funds, Reviews budget drivers and variations with dept. leaders and addresses key issues.
    18.Partners with Chair in monitoring trends and underlying patient experience issues and institutes Practice changes to resolve problems.
    19.Monitors and addresses patient experience feedback.
    20.Ensures safe work environment and creates an environment that puts patient at center of practice.
    21.Participates in institutional Quality Assurance or Quality Assessment programs.
    22.May ensure that patient issues/complaints are properly resolved as applicable.
    23.Responsible for achievement of all compliance, regulatory, joint commission, ECOG/UNOS/OSHA adherence and other regulatory body requirements.
    24.Understands and effectively uses EPIC, and other systems and software databases to achieve goals.
