Pay Range: $29.44 - $43.86 per hour

Summary:
General Summary:
The Assistant Director plays a vital role in developing, implementing, and assessing recruitment strategies to attract a diverse, mission-aligned applicant pool to Rush Medical College. This position focuses on engaging prospective students committed to service, strengthening partnerships with feeder schools and organizations, and expanding outreach to recruit future physicians dedicated to health equity.
Additionally, the Assistant Director supports holistic admissions by reviewing applications to assess suitability for interview, and participating in interviews to ensure alignment with the College’s mission. This role also enhances administrative functions essential to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. The individual upholds RUSH’s mission, vision, and values while adhering to policies and procedures.

Bachelor's Degree required,
Experience in higher education admissions and recruitment required.
Strong knowledge of health professions student development preferred.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience managing data in a student information system or CRM.

Responsibilities:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment Process and Operations:
Develop and implement a strategic recruitment plan to attract a competitive, diverse, mission-aligned applicant pool to Rush Medical College.
Serve as the primary contact for prospective students via email, phone, virtual platforms, and/or in-person meetings; counsels and advises applicants on RMC admissions related programs, requirements and the application process.
Provide guidance and support to applicants throughout the admissions process, addressing inquiries and offering mentorship on strengthening their applications
Cultivate relationships with pre-health advisors, pathway/pipeline programs, and other organizations to expand outreach efforts.
Function as a liaison to Health Professions Advisors at colleges and universities throughout the country to ensure updated information around RMC requirements is disseminated.
Represent the college at local, regional and national recruitment events, including conferences, college fairs and campus visits.
Establish and oversee a Student Ambassador Program, including recruitment, training, and mentorship.
Plan and execute First Look Day and other campus recruitment related events, including coordinating the participation of faculty, staff, and students
Track and analyze recruitment metrics to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies
Prepare reports on applicant trends, demographics, and engagement to inform data-drive decision-making
Oversee campus, and off-campus related recruitment activities in coordination with the Director of Admissions and Recruitment
Collaborate with Rush University Division of Student Affairs, academic departments, and other relevant areas to organize and enhance elements pertinent to recruitment operations and activities.
Admissions and Interview Process and Operations:
Assist in the holistic review of applications, ensuring mission alignment.
Conduct interviews and facilitate applicant assessments in collaboration with faculty and admissions committee members
Manage all administrative aspects of the applicant interview season (September – February): including production of training documents, scheduling of training sessions/meetings, continued correspondence with interviewers and applicants, coordination of interview day logistics, and follow-up.
Manage and ensure a seamless and professional interview experience for applicants, faculty, staff and students through clear communication and event coordination.
Collaborates with Dean and Director of Admissions and Recruitment, and Chair, Committee on Admissions (COA) in the development and oversight of Interview Workgroup related materials for use during the interview process.
Collaborates with the Director of Admissions & Recruitment in developing and conducting periodic quality assessments of interview process and outcomes
Marketing & Communications:
Develop promotional materials, social media content, and digital campaigns to enhance the school’s visibility and engagement with prospective students.
Organize and lead virtual and in-person information sessions, webinars, and workshops to educate potential applicants about the admissions process and medical school experience.
Develop effective and informative program brochures, inserts and related promotional materials for use during interview days, and recruitment related activities/events. Assess to ensure content accuracy, and quality, of all printed materials and the RMC website.
Other Administrative Duties:
Supervise and mentor Admissions manager(s) and relevant staff in the completion of tasks related to RMC admissions and recruitment.
Coordinate and execute all aspects of M1 orientation including correspondence, materials, schedules, coordinating staff support, and effectively communicate to faculty, staff, and students to ensure well-executed orientation.
Create and maintain a budget and ongoing review of travel activities related to admissions and recruitment.
Submit detailed, year-end report to Director of Admissions and Recruitment of all recruitment efforts.
Serve as “designated” Director of Admissions and Recruitment as assigned by the Director in their absence.
Perform other special projects and/or events as assigned by the Dean and/or Director of Admissions and Recruitment.
