Endocrinology – Advanced Practice Provider

Rush Copley Medical Center, in Aurora, Illinois, part of the Rush University System for Health network of hospitals, invites applications for the position of outpatient Endocrinology Advanced Practice Provider.

Department/division specifics: 

· Seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing endocrinology team, which includes 3 physicians. This position will play a key role in expanding outpatient access and supporting ongoing, long-term care for patients with endocrine conditions.  

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

· Provide longitudinal care for patients with diabetes and general endocrine disorders, fostering ongoing patient relationships.  

· Prescribe and adjust diabetes medications, manage insulin pumps, and interpret continuous glucose monitoring data. 

· Deliver patient education on glucometer use, insulin administration, and lifestyle management to support sustained disease control. 

· Manage a variety of endocrine conditions with an emphasis on continuity, monitoring, and adjustments over time. 

· Collaborate with the care team to enhance access to outpatient services and support patients across their care journey. 

· Monday–Friday schedule, with approximately 36 patient-facing hours per week; no nights, weekends, or call responsibilities. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

· Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in endocrinology, including insulin pump management and diabetes education, is required for this role.

· A strong interest in developing ongoing patient-provider relationships and supporting patients across the continuum of endocrine care is highly valued. 

Position Requirements:

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
  • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
  • Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)

Physician Assistant:

  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
  • Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.     1.Lead and manage coding auditors and coding education staff members and act as a coding resource for the team’s work of connecting the Epic work queue edits, revenue codes, modifiers, ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, and other codes, with clinical documentation, to ensure accurate coding.

    Required Job Qualifications:
    •Bachelor’s degree in health information technology, healthcare management, or other related fields
    •AHIMA or AAPC Certification (such as CCS, CCA, CPC, COC, CPMA, RHIT or RHIA)
    •Ten years of leadership experience in an academic medical center coding department
    •Five years of experience with coding in academic medical center, hospital (HB) or professional (PB) Epic work queues, along with ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS codes, Modifiers, NCCI edits, and compliant coding methodologies
    •Experience with Epic reporting and dashboards
    •Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively
    •Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills
    •Strong interpersonal skills necessary for the communication and training of Revenue Integrity concepts
    •Ability to perform multiple tasks with excellent time management skills
