Summary:
The Surgical Assistant is a member of the surgical team in the Operating Room, working with the Attending Surgeon(s), Residents, Perfusion, and Registered Nurses, delivering direct patient care before, during and after surgery. • Illinois Registered Surgical Assistant License.
• Certified Surgical Assistant.
• Demonstrates knowledge and competence on all surgical services.

Responsibilities:
1.Develop ideals and a professional attitude to promote responsibility as an individual and as a member of the surgical team.
2.Coordination of team efforts to offer the most qualified team support to the surgical patient, surgeon, and all members of the surgical team.
3.Develop awareness of the patient as an individual, with specific psychological and physical needs, respecting the patient’s inherent right to privacy, dignity, and safety.
4.Develop and improve skills in all aspects of operating room technique, both routine and special procedures, and apply them in a professional manner.
5.Execution of all tasks utilizing principles of asepsis and good sterile technique.
6.Preparation of patient for surgery including but not limited to surgical scrub preparation, positioning, draping, sterile field maintenance.
7.Insertion of Foley catheters under the supervision of a physician.
8.Assists surgeon in tying off and coagulation of vessels as necessary under the supervision of a physician
9.Acts as surgeon’s second assistant throughout procedures, including holding of retractors and other specific tasks as required.
10.Assists in patient transfer pre and post operatively from the operating room table.
11.All invasive procedures are to be under the direction and supervision of a physician
12.Assists in preparation and application of sterile dressings post operatively.
13.Performs other duties as necessary during the operative procedure as directed by the surgeon.
14.Assists surgical team in transporting patients’ pre and post operatively.
15.Assists surgical team by gathering necessary supplies to include sterile instrument trays, positioning equipment etc.
16.Assist in coordinating training of new staff in the area as necessary.
17.In conjunction with operating room personnel to insure the availability of adequate supplies, instruments and equipment for the performance of operative procedures in the area.
18.Participates in research activities.
19.Assists in assembly of sterile supplies in the department as necessary. To include checking outdates of sterile supplies.
20.Assists in stocking of supplies in the department as necessary.
21.Assists in maintaining Joint Commission standards, utilizing downtime to survey the department and correct problems as necessary.
22.Performs related duties as required by the department of operating room services.

Summary:

Job Responsibilities: 

Recognizes and identifies various classifications of medications, medication names, dosage forms and routes of administration. 

Ability to use available print and online references as appropriate. 

Understands the pharmacy workflow including accurate and timely filling and delivery for first doses, pyxis refills, cart fill and batches. 

Understands the pharmacy workflow for medication returns and medication disposal. 

Performs pharmaceutical calculations accurately including fundamental math calculations, metric conversions, pharmaceutical dose calculations and parenteral dose calculations. 

Responsible for the accurate interpretation of EPIC pharmacy labels. 

Ability to appropriately label all medication dosage forms including auxiliary labels for expiration and storage as required. 

Responsible for the accurate and timely filling and delivery of patient-specific medications and Pyxis restocks. Ability to troubleshoot Pyxis equipment (i.e.: failed drawers, inventory, outdates). 

Ability to utilize technology in the pharmacy (i.e.: Carousels, Epic, Pharmacy Ideas) as needed for assigned duties. 

Assists in non-sterile compounding and repackaging of enteral medications. 

Responsible for answering phones, assisting callers with missing medication requests. 

Responsible for utilization of Epic for technical requests (i.e.: missing medications, Pyxis out of stock and responding to In- basket messages). 

Responsible for inventory, storage and supply maintenance of assigned areas. 

Follows stock rotation practices when putting away medication orders.

In addition, interns are expected to pick up shifts during holiday and summer breaks. It’s possible that full time work may be available if the intern is interested.

Pay Range: $27.47 - $43.27 per hour

Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Security and/or the appropriate designee the supervisor is charged with directing the subordinate officer personnel under his/her authority and is further responsible for ensuring and maintaining maximum security for patients, visitors, employees and students of Rush University Medical Center (RUMC). The Security Supervisor will report and document all infractions of rules, regulations and policies of RUMC including all federal, state and local laws and ordinances. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and I-CARE values. Acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Other information:
•Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred or 5 years of relevant work experience/field experience..
•Previous supervisory experience in a healthcare, law enforcement or corporate security environment preferred.
•Must possess a valid driver’s license (IL, IN or WI) at the time of application. Must have a prior driving record deemed acceptable to ROPH based upon the results of a Motor Vehicle Report check conducted by Human resources.
•Must have Illinois Department of Professional Regulations Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) day one of employment.
•Must possess or obtain International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification at the “Basic” and “Supervisory” levels within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter.

Must be able to stand or walk during the majority, if not the entire tour of duty, and be able to withstand weather extremes for external assignments. Physically able to perform required responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
•Assumes command and supervision of security officers on daily basis.
•Inspects posts and observes the efficiency of personnel assigned.
•Conduct liaison between the security department and other ROPH entities.
•Train, evaluate and discipline subordinate personnel.
•Participate in the recruitment and interview process of security officers.
•Perform dispatch duties as required.
•Generates and reviews various administrative documents including but not limited to; daily work schedules, payroll, audits, and drills.
•Monitor and reports infractions of rules, policies and procedures. Make appropriate recommendations to the Director of Security or designee for corrective action.
•Conduct investigations as directed and/or required.
•Assists local police agencies during investigations or emergencies.
•Perform other duties as assigned or necessitated by departmental need.
•Intelligent, emotionally stable, with unquestionable moral character, integrity and the ability to handle confidential matters.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to prioritize workload.
•Ability to work various shifts; including weekends as assignments dictate.
