Pay Range:$61,068 - $99,403 per year

Summary:
The web content strategist on the Digital and Web Strategy team in Rush’s Department of Marketing Communications plays a hands-on role in shaping Rush’s web presence. The individual in this role is responsible for planning, researching, writing, editing, and publishing web content that builds trust and confidence, drives engagement and appointments, enhances user experience, improves search engine visibility, and supports Rush’s strategic priorities and marketing goals.
The web content strategist works primarily on content for our health care website, rush.edu, with a focus on:
* Search engine optimization (SEO) content: Optimizing clinical service line, condition, and treatment pages to increase organic search visibility.
* Clinical service line content: Developing content for high-priority clinical service line pages that informs and engages prospective and existing patients about Rush’s expertise, strengths, and differentiators.
* Strategic priority content: Creating and refining content for core and supporting web sections, Rush digital health initiatives, and other emerging priorities.
This role works collaboratively with other members of Rush Marketing Communications, including teams in Marketing Strategy, Strategic Internal Communications, Strategic External Communications, and Brand Strategy & Creative Media, as well as colleagues from other departments across Rush and vendor partners. This individual exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and ICARE values and acts in accordance with all policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Content strategy (20%)
* Contribute to the Digital and Web Strategy team’s annual work planning for high-priority clinical and non-clinical areas
* Develop and prioritize web content projects that align with Rush’s strategic priorities and drive measurable improvements in patient engagement and appointment scheduling
* Apply insights from target audience research, keyword research, stakeholder input, and competitive analysis to inform content strategy
* Create and maintain project plans, including tasks, timelines, and key performance indicators
Content production (60%)
* Interview subject matter experts and conduct research to gather information and insights
* Write creative and compelling web content that drives outcomes, including both crafting new content and refreshing existing content
* Collect and integrate feedback from subject matter experts, stakeholders, and colleagues
* Edit content to ensure alignment with Rush editorial standards, voice, tone, and brand
* Publish and maintain web content using the Drupal content management system
Content operations and measurement (20%)
* Contribute to improving content governance, production workflows, and lifecycle management
* Complete routine content audits for accuracy, freshness, and readability
* Contribute to A/B testing initiatives to assess and refine content performance
* Analyze and report on key performance indicators to colleagues and stakeholders, using data and insights to inform adjustments to content strategies
* Stay up to date on digital trends and innovations — within both health care and other consumer-centric industries — and apply them to web content strategy at Rush
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field.
* At least 3 years of professional writing experience, preferably in marketing communications. Experience at an academic medical center, health care organization, or college/university is a plus.
Competencies:

* Experience across digital and web strategy, website management, digital analytics, search engine optimization, user experience, and project management
* Hands-on experience with content management systems (preferably Drupal)
