Summary:
The Employee Health Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect nursing care to Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) employees, contract employees and non-employee groups, with a focus on occupational health. Responsibilities:
1.Completes required new employee/contractor and volunteer screening including screening for TB, Hepatitis B, MMR and varicella, as well as other applicable immunizations. Communicates clearance process and updates with Human Resources/Recruitment or hiring manager.
2.Provides safe, competent and efficient nursing care for minor and acute injuries and illnesses via protocols and medical directives.
3.Evaluate and complete sick calls, following the appropriate necessary referrals, return to work approval protocols and employee education.
4.Performs blood/body fluid exposures, infection control/communicable diseases exposure treatment and follow up per protocol.
5.Reviews Employee Injury report for accuracy, consistency, and completeness, reviewing the incident with the employee and the employee’s supervisor as needed.
6. Participate in investigation and follow-up on all work-related injuries/illnesses. Monitor for trends and address, develop and implement strategies to prevent work-acquired injury or illness. Coordinate care and follow up with the Occupational Medicine physician and expedite return to work.
7.Completes all COVID Team duties, including COVID test result notification, documentation, intake and return to work with proficiency in all Epic functionality (e.g., result pools, dashboard, encounter documentation)
8.Serves as Tier 2 escalation from Employee Service Center (ESC) to triage and resolve escalated clinical cases in ServiceNow or via phone warm-transfer within the established turnaround times
9.Participates in preventive screening programs (e.g. TB surveillance, influenza vaccines, Hepatitis B, MMR, varicella and other appropriate immunizations) designed to identify and monitor risks to the employee’s health.
10.Documents all employee visits thoroughly and accurately in Cority, Epic and/or other designated documents.
11.Assists in the coordination of annual fit testing of N95 masks.
12.Collaborates with other members of the health care team for the purpose of assessing, directing and evaluating treatment approaches, and improving the quality of care given.
13.Utilizes resources to effectively resolve conflict and improve team relationships in support of a healthy work environment.

Job Summary:
The Clinical Research Assistant (CRA) is an entry-level, pathways position that provides foundational support to clinical research teams. Under close supervision, the CRA assists with essential study tasks such as organizing regulatory files, entering participant information, preparing materials for study visits, and observing study procedures for training. This role supports minimal to moderate risk studies, including exempt or expedited protocols, and is not assigned to clinical trials. The CRA gains exposure to research coordination through guided hands-on experience, with a focus on accuracy, organization, and team collaboration. Job Responsibilities:
1.Assists with participant scheduling, reminder calls, and general tracking under supervision. May observe consent conversations or study visits with training.
2.Collects and enters non-clinical data (e.g., demographics, visit logs) into data tracking tools or EDC systems under supervision; may help scan or organize forms.
3.Supports submission packet assembly and document routing for IRB or regulatory submissions under the direction of CRC I or II; not authorized to submit independently.
4.Files study documents, maintains logs (e.g., training, screening), and assists with organization of source documentation in binders or shared drives.
5.Not involved in specimen collection. May assist with labeling, inventory, or shipment preparation under CRC supervision.
6.May observe assessments for training; assists with room setup, form preparation, or equipment handoff before and after participant encounters.
7.Drafts basic emails, participant reminders, or visit confirmations; communicates updates to CRC team but not to sponsors or IRBs.
8.Maintains file accuracy for audit readiness; supports CRCs in preparing monitoring visit materials. May take notes during visits.
9.Not responsible for reporting safety events but may help gather timeline data or document history under guidance.
10.Participates in routine team meetings; may suggest logistical improvements based on daily task experience.

Required Job Qualifications:
1.Minimum of 9 months of experience in nursing
2.Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) .
3.Within 1 year from the date of hire, employee must be enrolled in a BSN program.
4.RNs hired prior to 10/22/2020 are grandfathered in with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or diploma in nursing, with no further need to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BAN or BSN).
5.Chief Nursing Officer must provide approval for any RNs with ADN degree hired after 10/22/2020, based upon unit need. ADN RNs hired after 10/22/2020 must show continued enrolment towards a BSN degree with a signature of contract stipulating a BSN degree must be completed within 3 years of hire. ADN RNS are not eligible for leveling to RN3.
6. Prior to leveling to RN2, RN must show consistent proficient performance at RN1 position or equivalent experience.
