Summary:
Under the general supervision of a Security Supervisor, the armed Security Officer will provide physical protection for persons and safeguarding of property on the Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) Campus. The security officer will report and document infractions of rules, regulations and policies of RUMC; and violations of federal, state and local laws and/or ordinances. The security officer will exemplify the RUMC missions, visions and values and act in accordance with RUMC policies and procedures.

Knowledge:
High School graduate or GED.
Previous hospital security experience preferred but not required.
Valid driver’s (Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin) license required.
Must have a prior driving record deemed acceptable to RUMC based upon the results of a Motor Vehicle Report check conducted by Human Resources.
Must possess and be responsible for maintaining current Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
Must have completed 28 hours firearm training as demonstrated through a certification of successful completion of Firearms Training Course.
Must be eligible to obtain a Firearm Control Card (FCC)* within 90 days of employment (*Including revolver).
Illinois Firearm’s Owner’s Identification Permit (FOID) required. International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (“IAHSS”) certification required within six months of employment and maintained thereafter.

Ability to exercise independent judgment; excellent customer service skills.
Abilities:Must be able to stand or walk during the majority, if not entire tour of duty and be able to withstand weather extremes for external assignments.

Responsibilities:
1.Provide fixed, walking and vehicular patrols of all RUMC buildings and grounds.
2.Perform Security Services Dispatch functions.

6.Assists local police agencies during investigations or emergencies.
7.Monitor and assist with access control and visitor management.

10.Participates in property control procedures (accepts, records, stores, returns, or releases to authorized persons).
11.Responds to emergency situations (i.e. Code Red, Blue, Code Triage, Code Orange, etc.).
12.Performs other duties as assigned.

The Senior Surgical Technologist assists in patient care and surgical services under the supervision of a registered nurse. The primary responsibility of this person is to carry out the function of the scrub role during surgical procedures. Pay Range: $40.05 - $61.28 per hour

The RN 2 CSO is a competent nurse who has mastered technical skills. The RN 2 identifies patterns of patient responses and can use past experiences to implement solutions for current situations. The RN 2 continues to consult with other members of the heal care team when the need for assistance is identified. Required Job Qualifications:
1.Minimum of 9 months of experience in nursing
2.Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) .
3.Within 1 year from the date of hire, employee must be enrolled in a BSN program.
4.RNs hired prior to 10/22/2020 are grandfathered in with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or diploma in nursing, with no further need to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BAN or BSN).
5.Chief Nursing Officer must provide approval for any RNs with ADN degree hired after 10/22/2020, based upon unit need. ADN RNs hired after 10/22/2020 must show continued enrolment towards a BSN degree with a signature of contract stipulating a BSN degree must be completed within 3 years of hire. ADN RNS are not eligible for leveling to RN3.
6. Prior to leveling to RN2, RN must show consistent proficient performance at RN1 position or equivalent experience.
7. Current state of Illinois Registered Nursing License
8. CPR
9. ACLS for ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg (6west), Endoscopy, PACU, IR, and ED required within 3 months of hire
10. PALS PACU and ED required within 3 months of hire
11. Proficiency in charge and preceptor roles.

• Work requires the ability to walk throughout the medical center and to be standing and walking most of the designated shift.
