Summary:
This position is responsible for accepting, processing, and performing waived and moderate laboratory testing and reporting for the testing area. This position requires teamwork to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to clients and patients. Required Job Qualifications:
•Experience: No previous experience required.
•Associates degree or higher in relevant science required, or education/work experience meeting the qualification of moderate complexity testing personnel as defined by CLIA 42 CFR 493 1489.
•Employees in this job classification are qualified to perform waived and moderate complexity testing. Employees' education and/or laboratory experience meet the requirements delineated in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment of 1996. RUMC reserves the right to limit an MLT's scope of testing.
•Certification (or eligible) from a nationally recognized certifying agency is required. Eligibility as determined by ASCP and/or AMT requirements. Some laboratory disciplines may require more stringent certification criteria.

Responsibilities:

Order Entry/Customer Service
•Performs multiple computer entry, inquiry, and receiving functions.
•Performs transcription of laboratory orders and registration activities when needed.
•Demonstrates good communication and customer service skills on the phone and in person.
•Calls critical results, documents to whom and that a “read back” was performed and within the expected time frame.
Specimen Processing
•Accessions and processes specimens according to the appropriate procedure prepare specimens accordingly for transport or delivery.
•Recognizes and resolves any specimen and equipment problems.
•Delivers specimens to RUSH laboratory locations, and/or loads specimens on instrumentation.
Performs Laboratory Testing
•Utilizes required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as defined by the lab area.
•Labels and processes specimens properly. Performs all laboratory procedures efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision once trained; All testing must be done following Rush-approved Policies and Procedures.
Quality Control and Preventative Maintenance
•Performs required quality control (QC) procedures and preventative maintenance, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation.
•Recognizes QC problems or discrepancies and attempts to determine the cause of problem. Notifies appropriate supervisor or designee regarding QC problems or discrepancies according to the established procedure.
Troubleshooting
•Performs basic troubleshooting of equipment and processes with minimal assistance, documents action and notifies appropriate personnel, for example, supervisors, of problems all the time. Able to recognize when additional help is needed and seek out that help.
Organization of Work Area
•Keeps work area neat, clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times. Disinfects the area at the beginning and end of each shift.
Specimen Acceptability
•Accepts no inappropriate specimens. Notifies the appropriate person of specimens that must be drawn or collected again and documents the notification.
Turnaound Time Expectations
•Meets turnaround time expectations by prioritizing and organizing the workload for the shift. Monitors the pending list periodically to ensure turnaround time of all samples.
Time Management
•Utilizes time effectively and seeks out additional job duties when shift tasks are complete.
•Completes work without incurring overtime. Assists fellow workers to finish shift tasks.
•Adheres to the defined allotted time for breaks and lunch.
Continuing Education
•Required to obtain and document 12 hours of laboratory continuing education per year.
Special Projects
•Accepts and/or volunteers for method evaluations and new procedure development or other special projects and completes them within an agreed upon time frame.
•Participates in procedure implementation and training of new staff and students.
•Encouraged to identify and participate in process improvement projects.
Report Reviewing and Results Reportings
•Reviews lab results as required and takes appropriate action before verification and release.
•Recognizes and calls critical results within defined time frames.
•Reviews paper generated results and transcribes accurately into the Lab Information System.

Job Responsibilities: 

Recognizes and identifies various classifications of medications, medication names, dosage forms and routes of administration. 

Ability to use available print and online references as appropriate. 

Understands the pharmacy workflow including accurate and timely filling and delivery for first doses, pyxis refills, cart fill and batches. 

Understands the pharmacy workflow for medication returns and medication disposal. 

Performs pharmaceutical calculations accurately including fundamental math calculations, metric conversions, pharmaceutical dose calculations and parenteral dose calculations. 

Responsible for the accurate interpretation of EPIC pharmacy labels. 

Ability to appropriately label all medication dosage forms including auxiliary labels for expiration and storage as required. 

Responsible for the accurate and timely filling and delivery of patient-specific medications and Pyxis restocks. Ability to troubleshoot Pyxis equipment (i.e.: failed drawers, inventory, outdates). 

Ability to utilize technology in the pharmacy (i.e.: Carousels, Epic, Pharmacy Ideas) as needed for assigned duties. 

Assists in non-sterile compounding and repackaging of enteral medications.

In addition, interns are expected to pick up shifts during holiday and summer breaks. It’s possible that full time work may be available if the intern is interested.

Job Summary:
The Clinical Research Coordinator III (CRC III) independently manages the full scope of clinical research study execution for complex, multi-site, or longitudinal protocols. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory and institutional requirements, coordinating communication with investigators and sponsors, and resolving operational challenges. The CRC III is distinguished by their ability to work with limited oversight, provide peer mentorship, and serve as a departmental resource. The CRC III guides others in best practices, supports quality improvement efforts, and contributes to a culture of research excellence.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience:
•2-5 years’ experience in clinical research conduct and regulatory management, or hold a valid research administration certification

•Relevant certification strongly preferred: Certified Clinical Research Professionals (CCRP), Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA), Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), or Certified IRB Professional (CIP)

Job Responsibilities:
1.Coordinates all aspects of the study including recruitment, consent, screening, scheduling, and tracking, and ensures study updates are provided throughout the conduct of the study.
2.Ensures data is entered into the study’s electronic data capture system and that queries are responded to and resolved in a timely manner.
3.Manages the preparation and submission of study-related documents, protocols, and amendments to the IRB per policy and procedure.
4.Maintains accurate and complete procedural documentation in compliance with institutional, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations related to clinical research.
5.Oversees and audits source documentation and data entries across studies to ensure full alignment with protocol and 100% source documentation verification; provides coaching and correction to staff as needed to maintain audit readiness.
6.Oversee the collection, processing, and shipment of potentially biohazardous specimens, if applicable.
7.Oversee administration of structured tests and questionnaires according to research study protocols, including utilizing study-related technology and equipment as part of assessment procedures, if applicable.
8.Reviews and finalizes summary report(s) for distribution to PI, Administrator, department stakeholders, Sponsor, and Compliance, and ensures accurate study updates throughout the conduct of the study.
9.Prepares for internal and external audits or monitoring visits and responds to monitoring queries to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines.
10.Ensures unanticipated problems (e.g., protocol deviations, adverse events, and serious adverse events) are documented and reported in a timely manner.
11.Provides recommendations to proactively address complex issues and/or protocol variances related to study activities.
12.Delivers peer training, mentorship, and coaching to less experienced staff and supports onboarding of CRC I and II staff; models regulatory and procedural best practices in daily study operations.
13.May summarize and share relevant research updates during internal or external presentations; maintains current knowledge of clinical research trends, policies, and best practices.
