Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of Primary Care Service Line Director.

The Primary Care Service Line Director serves as the physician lead of Rush's primary care service line, allocating 50% effort to administrative leadership and 50% to clinical practice. In this role, the Director will partner with the administrative Executive Director to set strategic direction, drive operational performance, and advance clinical excellence across the network. Leading a team of regional medical directors and working alongside dedicated administrative support, the service line leader will shape the future of primary care delivery at a major academic medical center.  

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Operations

• Lead the strategic planning process for the Service Line growth and operational initiatives --including clinical pathways and business priorities -- in collaboration with the service line administrative Executive Director, regional physician leaders, and departmental administration Establish and lead service line governance in partnership with the Executive Director, including a structure of regional medical directors that enables consistent escalation, delegated decision-making, and accountability across the network

• Manage key performance metrics, including volumes, patient satisfaction, and access

• Lead program development and implementation of new clinical services

• Assist in system integration of care across existing and future Rush-affiliated sites

Financial Management & Business Development

• Prepare and manage annual service line budget, in partnership with the administrative Executive Director

• Monitor financial performance and identify margin improvement opportunities, including growth, revenue enhancements, and cost reduction initiatives

• Oversee managed care activities and lead faculty recruitment process; partner with administrative executive director to develop financial models for revenue/activity projections

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with state/federal laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements

• Develops and implements department & personnel policies & procedures that are consistent with medical center guidelines & meet HCFA, Joint Commission, and Corporate Compliance.

• Lead performance improvement activities and educational programs, monitor healthcare service quality, and coordinate risk minimization efforts

• Implement patient safety and quality assurance policies and procedures

• Assures that RUMC maintains a patient-centric focus by serving as a role model with consistent emphasis on patient and family relations, customer satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Reports to the Dean of the Medical College and works closely with department Chairs and RUMC Strategic Planning in partnership with the Executive Director in developing the annual board report, budgetary volume projections, and new strategic growth initiatives, including selection and implementation of new technology and recruitment of faculty

• Serve as the physician dyad partner with the Executive Director for the primary care service line, jointly owning service line strategy, performance, and culture — and directly overseeing a structure of regional medical directors who extend physician leadership across the network

• Establishes and maintains close working relationships with corporate compliance to ensure ongoing compliance with all state and federal requirements.

• Foster a positive work environment promoting open communication, independent thinking, and service excellence while taking an active role in performance improvement activities and implementation of educational programs.

• Interact with regional and national experts for the sharing of information, experience, practice, and research.

• Partner with Faculty & Provider Recruitment to attract and retain top-tier physicians and APPs.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required

Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Internal Medicine-Pediatrics

• Current, unrestricted medical license (or eligibility) in Illinois

Minimum 8 years progressive experience in a health system or academic medical center

Minimum 2 years of people management experience

• Significant exposure to service lines across inpatient/outpatient settings preferred

• Demonstrated marketing capability, analytical skills, and business acumen

• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with physician leaders

• Capability to manage multiple concurrent projects independently and as part of a team

16.Assists in the hiring process of Animal Care Technician I, II, and III personnel.
17.Assists in the training and education of Animal Care Technician I, II, and III personnel.
18.Assists in all disciplinary activities of Animal Care Technician I, II, and III personnel.
19.Assists in all annual review activities of Animal Care Technician I, II, and III personnel.
TECHNICAL SERVICES FUNCTIONS
20.Operates and maintains facility cage washer, bottle washer, autoclave, washer and dryer, waste compactor, etc.
21.Maintains and operates minor facility equipment such as pressure washer, floor scrubber, mops brooms, and buckets, etc.
22.Understands and uses personal protective equipment and practices associated with animal husbandry procedures.
23.Coordinates receipt of animal shipments and housing of animals specific to each species, each facility, and each research application.
24.Learns and operates facility based computer system and software applications related to laboratory animal management.
25.Participates in all education and training skills laboratories.
CONTINUING EDUCATION FUNCTIONS
26.Reads all educational materials related to the care and use of laboratory animals as directed by the Director and the Associate Director of CRC Operations.
27.Reads and understands all operating policies of Rush and the Comparative Research Center.
28.Obtains membership in Chicago Branch AALAS and attends no less than one meeting per year.
29.Attends National AALAS Meeting and/or other meeting and training opportunities related to laboratory animal sciences field when indicated by Senior Director.
30.Seeks advancement in the field of laboratory animal science through participation in AALAS recognized training program with a focus on supervisory management.

Summary:
The Center for Veterans and their Families at Rush (RHP) is a clinical resource center dedicated to assisting and supporting current service members (Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard), veterans, and their families, with vital clinic services focused on PTSD, TBI counseling and therapies. RHP will provide those services in support and collaboration with existing veteran and service member organizations. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be the primary advocate in leading the communication and education efforts about RHP services and programs. Required Job Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
1.Facilitates the development and implementation of RHP programs and services and promotes these services throughout the community to service members, veterans, service family members and other non-profit and veteran governmental organizations.
2.Develops community support and speaks on behalf of RHP. Assists with grassroots efforts and supports specific campaigns as needed. This may include assistance with fund raising for RHP.
3.Ensures that the community understands how the programs and activities are addressing needs and ways in which veterans and family members can actively participate in achieving goals.
4.Develops and maintains working relationships with related healthcare and case managers at area VA, Department of Defense, and other non-governmental organizations (NGO's) to ensure that the service member/veteran/ family members are aware of the services and programs that RHP provides· Identifies resources in assigned area of responsibility for RHP participation, as well as outreach/awareness, resource development, partnership, speaking opportunities.
5.Ensures that program partners are identifying best practices and lessons learned and sharing information.
6.Meets with individual service members, veterans, and their families to introduce RHP programs and services. Facilitates opportunities for meetings/introductions to RHP Case Managers.
7.Serves as a point of contact for RHP services and programs, and refers service members, veterans, and their families to appropriate internal Rush associates and other organizations as needed.
8.Supports RHP by acting as a representative at events for, or benefitting, RHP (ie: social events, media opportunities, recreational events, fundraising events, etc.).
9.Actively participates in and/or plans events for the RHP as needed. Identifies opportunities for publicity and encourages partners to represent work at events or in the media.
10.Oversees the implementation of activities and goal progression over time to ensure that deliverables are completed and tracked. Leads the development of communication plans as needed.

8.Utilize approved informed consent and HIPAA procedures.
9.Maintain equipment and computers: caring for equipment, testing equipment, sending equipment for repairs, etc.
10.Maintain supply inventory.
11.Keep lab neat, clean and organized: cleaning up after laboratory sessions with participants, keeping common areas clean and organized, finding new ways to organize.
12.Manage other various smaller lab jobs to ensure the lab runs smoothly.
13.Attend regular team meetings.
14.Troubleshoot field issues when necessary, using discretion to resolve issues when unplanned events arise.
