Position Highlights:

· Rush Heart & Vascular’s downtown Chicago practice is based at Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges.

· Clinical responsibilities include coverage at Rush University Medical Center, Rush Oak Park Hospital, Rush Copley Medical Center, Rush North & Harlem Outpatient Center, and Franciscan Health in Northwest Indiana.

· Join a collaborative team of six vascular surgeons and four advanced practice providers, along with a strong multidisciplinary group at Rush Copley Medical Center.

· Deliver comprehensive vascular care within a fully integrated academic and clinical environment, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient settings.

· Opportunity to perform the full spectrum of vascular procedures in a new state-of-the-art hybrid operating room, including complex aortic surgery, while actively engaging in teaching and other academic activities.

Qualifications:

· MD, DO, MD/PhD, DO/PhD, or equivalent degree.

· Academic credentials appropriate for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.

    · Minimum of five (5) years of post-training experience in vascular surgery required.

    · Completion of an ACGME-accredited vascular surgery fellowship.

    · Board certified in Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS).

    · Illinois medical license preferred or eligibility for licensure.

      Summary:

      Responsibilities:
      •Communicates with all surgical and procedural candidates to set up appointments, provide patients with information about pre-operative requirements, inform patients of surgical requirement timelines, and answers any insurance-related questions about surgical procedures.
      •Coordinates onboarding and off boarding of other Periop Schedulers and insurance authorization staff for the service line
      •Schedules authorization and OR scheduling assignments to ensure adequate coverage and equal distribution of work and effort. Collaborates with service line leaders to optimize insurance authorization and surgical scheduling workflows.
      •Establishes course of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed effectively and efficiently.
      •Serves as a role model and mentor by demonstrating exceptional interpersonal communication and collaboration skills in the management of complex patient care situations.
      •Provides training and mentorship to other periop schedulers and authorization team members.
      •Provides timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge and skill areas needed to develop, accomplish a task, or solve a problem.

      •Performs pre-certification of orders, procedures and surgeries.

      •Answers patient billing questions, coordinates set-up of payment plans, and refers as necessary to appropriate RUMC resources.
      •Addresses patient calls efficiently and courteously. Takes accurate, clear and concise messages that provide sufficient information for the clinical staff and/or receiving party to effectively handle the issue/request.
      •Schedules, cancels and reschedules procedures and surgeries. Places reminder calls and collects pertinent information from patients in advance of their appointment per office policy.
      •Supports effective OR utilization by utilizing the wait list and filling OR and procedure slots created by cancellations and proactively managing OR block time.
      •Appropriately transfers patients to pre-registration for insurance verification per RUMG policy.
      •Accesses EPIC to retrieve referrals, orders and other documentation and contacts various outside agencies to obtain referrals and other documentation.
      •Coordinates administrative office functions as assigned including completion of EPIC administrative in-box messages
      •Problem solves issues by seeking out the appropriate resources.

Principally responsible for retrieving patient records/documents for user and maintaining the record in the order designated by the department and hospital.       Responsibilities:
      1.Processes requests for all records from all requestors with courtesy, patience, accuracy, and completeness. Ensures requestor is kept current on the status of the records requested, pulled, and/or copied.
      2.Validates adequacy of written and telephone requests for copies or other information from the patient medical records.
      3.Perform duties related to birth/death certificates.
      4.Scans and performs quality review of images.
      5.Maintains scanning equipment.
      6.Utilizes several software applications to locate and reproduce electronic, paper, film or scanned medical records.
      7.Manages all department off-shift inquiries independently.
      8.Responds to pages from patient care areas for copying, and copies pertinent information from the patient medical records.
      9.Enters abstracted data into system for reporting purposes.
      10.Maintains productivity logs, reporting data to immediate supervisor as requested.
      11.Collects patient charts throughout the medical center and ensures all records are retrieved daily.
      12.Makes rounds' following a specific route and schedule to retrieve all inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory clinic patient records.
      13.In emergency situations or as requested, releases patient information to other hospital emergency rooms or physicians in accordance with department policies and procedures.
      14.Places single and multi-volume patient charts in universal order according to RUMC guidelines.
      15.Print electronic transfer medical records.
      16.Picks up and delivers mail.
      17.Activate MyChart account requests.
      18.Creates and affixes worksheets, barcode labels and color-coded number tags to charts according to RUMC guidelines.
      19.Conducts follow-up with Release of Information to locate charts.
      20.Issues medical record numbers according to RUMC guidelines.
      21.Maintains patient chart location status in software programs with accuracy and completeness.
      22.Maintains all equipment in proper working order, reporting all problems as soon as they are noticed.
      23.Prudently uses supplies reporting shortages as identified.

      34.Quality Management Responsibilities: 98% prepping and scanning accuracy achieved within 3 months, 100% if paper documentation scanned within 24 hours of receipt, and 5 day turn-around for release of information.
