The Oncology Infusion RN 2 identifies patterns of patient responses and can use past experiences to implement solutions for current situations. The Oncology Infusion RN 2 is a competent nurse who has mastered technical skills and utilizes evidence-based interventions. The Oncology Infusion RN 2 continues to collaborate with other members of the health care team when the need for assistance is identified. • Earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher (except RN1s hired and already working at Rush University Medical Center before October 2012). Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates physicians’ orders for therapeutic appropriateness, proper dosing, drug interactions, allergic reactions, route, labs, contraindications and rate of administration and therapeutic redundancies.
  • Verifies orders in Epic in a timely manner and if necessary, clarifies orders through direct and timely contact with prescriber or designated practitioner.

Summary

The incumbent is responsible for supporting the administration and compliance of the 340B Drug Pricing Program within the organization. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the program's success by maintaining accurate records, monitoring program eligibility, and assisting in program audits. Position Summary: 

  • The System Antimicrobial Stewardship – Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (ASP-ID) is a clinical pharmacy specialist and leader responsible for the development, implementation, and documentation of the antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) across Rush University Health System (Rush). This includes providing multidisciplinary education on safe antimicrobial use, creating and implementing guidelines, collaborating with multidisciplinary clinicians, administrators, and support staff across the system, and analyzing metrics for antimicrobial utilization to satisfy new and existing CDC and Joint Commission standards. The ASP-ID pharmacist will be responsible for developing and coordinating innovative clinical pharmacy programs across RUSH sites conducting scholarly and research activities and interdisciplinary teaching. To support the effectiveness of ASP initiatives, the ASP-ID pharmacist will maintain on-site service coverage rounding with inpatient ID team(s). The ASP-ID pharmacist will serve as a key faculty member in postgraduate pharmacy training programs and affiliated colleges of pharmacy. This position will focus their efforts on ASP support at Rush Oak Park hospital and Rush Copley Medical Center. 

Essential Clinical Duties and Responsibilities of the ASP-ID Pharmacist: 

  • Develops metrics for performance and maintenance of ASP. 
  • Participates in the provision of pharmaceutical patient care through ASP staffing and clinical rounds. 
  • Participates in restricted/protected antimicrobial approval. 
  • Participate in ASP coordinated education of healthcare professionals across RUSH sites and external partners. 
  • Serves as a liaison to other healthcare providers in the ASP. Coordinate the implementation of identified ASP initiatives while assisting with maintaining relevant required regulatory standards. 
  • Assists with the strategic implementation of Department of Pharmacy and RUSH quality initiatives.

Responsibilities:
1.Performs a variety of office functions including the retrieval and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, filing, stocking of supplies, and preparation and dissemination of clinic correspondence and completion of Epic Administrative In-Box as directed.
2.Accesses EPIC to retrieve referrals, orders and other documentation. Assists patients with Release of Information requests.
3.Maintains and retrieves medical records per HIM and office protocol.
4.Addresses patient calls efficiently and courteously. Takes accurate, clear and concise messages that provide sufficient information for the clinical staff and/or receiving party to effectively handle the issue/request.
5.Schedules, cancels and/or reschedules patient appointments, as assigned. Places reminder calls or sends information to patients in advance of their appointment per office policy.
6.Appropriately transfers patients to pre-registration for insurance verification.
7.Prepares and disseminates patient letters and other correspondence from EPIC.
8.Problem solves issues by seeking out the appropriate resources.
9.Works collaboratively as part of the medical practice team.
10.Performs other duties as assigned.
