      The Department of Neurological Sciences at Rush University Medical Center is growing and looking to add BC/BE academic and community Neurologists to their downtown Main Campus location. The Main Campus general neurology practice current team includes 10 academic clinical neurologists that have a variety of clinical and academic interests, each with extensive experience caring for patients with a wide range of neurological problems in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Candidates will have a faculty appointment and join the Department of Neurological Sciences at Rush University Medical Center. Teaching and research opportunities are also available if desired by the candidate.       Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role, as well as additional compensation such as sign-on and retention bonuses and relocation allowances.       This Research Faculty member will support the development of the OBGYN Research Program by conducting complex reproductive health research to decrease reproductive health disparities and enhance health equity. The Chair of the Department is a successful NIH-funded investigator with multiple clinical trials in the areas of Contraception Provision and HIV Prevention. We are seeking individuals who will conduct innovative, rigorous, grant-funded research, engage in scholarly activities (peer-reviewed publications, presentations, etc. ), and can mentor other faculty members. Specifically, this individual should plan and direct qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, and other research relevant to Obstetrics and Gynecology and related subspecialties, including Complex Family Planning, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, and Urogynecology. Research should promote collaborations that bring together stakeholders from inside and outside the healthcare system to address disparities in health outcomes. Rush University partners with the University of Chicago and other local health systems and universities in the Institute for Translational Medicine (www.chicagoitm.org), a NIH translational sciences center.       Summary:

      The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or certified advanced practice nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.     Summary:

    The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or certified advanced practice nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

    Responsibilities:

    Clinical

    • Completes and documents an accurate history and physical examination of patients.

    • Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans

    • Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice

    • Prescribes medications, including controlled substances to the extent delegated including non-pharmacologic treatment modalities

    • Orders, interprets, and performs laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures.

    • Provides clear, concise, and accurate information in the electronic medical record.

    • Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations

    • Make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals and/or agencies

    • Provides direct patient care in assigned areas, which may be in a hospital or ambulatory setting.

    • Works collaboratively with his/her collaborating/supervising physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.

    Required Job Qualifications:

    • Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant Licensure.

    • Current Certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

    • Degree from an ARC-PA (or predecessor) accredited PA Program.

    • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Licensure.

    • Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a national certifying organization Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner educational program.

    • The APN's education and specialty board certification must correlate with the APP's job role, setting, responsibility and patient population.

    • Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing.

    • BLS certification.

    • Demonstrates competency in all areas of APP practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice based learning and improvement, and systems based practice.

    • Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic and paper medical records

    • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.

The selected individual will join a section of eight clinical faculty to cover outpatient and inpatients needs for the Transplant Service Line. The position will render care to Hepatology patients at the Rush main campus and regional sites for the Rush Solid Organ Transplant program.

    Rush was one of the first ten liver transplant centers in the United States, starting in the 1980s. Nearly 2,000 patients have received a liver transplant during the program’s 35-year history. Today, the program consists of a large multidisciplinary team which works closely together to maintain exceptional patient care and excellent quality outcomes.

    Qualified candidates must possess a strong commitment to patient care, resident education, and research. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in both transplant hepatology as well as gastroenterology and be eligible for faculty appointment at the assistant professor level or above. The ideal candidate will have experience in an academic medical center. Candidates should have experience in clinical hepatology and liver transplantation. An interest or experience in alcohol use disease order is also desirable.
