This individual will strengthen and elevate the department’s national prominence, drive growth in health systems science research and scholarship, and cultivate a thriving environment where faculty, learners, and alumni can excel. They will champion innovation, advance a forward-looking strategic agenda, and position Rush HSM as the destination of choice for developing future-ready healthcare leaders.

      This leader serves as the strategic, academic, and administrative leader of the department, driving excellence in teaching, research, and service. Core responsibilities include overseeing high-quality graduate programs, curriculum development, and accreditation compliance, while championing innovative and interdisciplinary education. The Chair also leads faculty recruitment, mentorship, evaluation, and promotion processes, and advances a robust research agenda spanning health policy, healthcare management, and population health - including fostering grant funding, scholarly output, and partnerships with government and healthcare organizations.

      On the operational side, the Chair manages the departmental budget, staffing, and infrastructure while ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. Beyond internal administration, the role carries a strong external engagement component, building relationships with healthcare organizations, policymakers, and community partners to strengthen the department's national and international reputation and support meaningful public health impact.

      Reporting to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences, this leader serves as the department’s chief academic and operational officer and represents HSM across the College, the University, and the national healthcare community.

      Required Qualifications

      • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, DHA, DBA, or equivalent) or equivalent experience in Health Services Research, Health Policy, Public Health, Business/Health Administration, Health Systems Management, or a related field. Credentials supporting appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank
      • 10–12 years of progressive healthcare management and leadership experience
      • Minimum 5 years in academic roles with teaching and curriculum development responsibilities
      • Demonstrated success in program leadership, faculty management, or academic administration
      • Proven record in strategic planning, organizational development, and leading change in complex healthcare environments
      • Experience overseeing budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation
      • Successful recruitment, development, and retention of faculty
      • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams
      • Strong teaching background with evidence of instructional innovation and effective student mentorship
      • Active scholarly agenda with peer-reviewed publications in healthcare management, health services research, or related fields
      • Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation

The IR APP will deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, including consultation, peri-procedural evaluation, and longitudinal patient management.         Duties & Responsibilities:

        · 4, 10-hour shifts/week

        · Hybrid inpatient, outpatient, and procedural role

        Key Responsibilities:

        Inpatient & Procedural Care

        · Perform daily inpatient rounding on assigned Interventional Radiology patients

        · Provide follow-up management for patients with IR-placed drains, lines, and feeding tubes

        · Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes

        · Deliver patient education, discharge planning, and post-procedure care instructions

        · Provide cross-coverage for line and drain management during APP absences

        · Perform image-guided procedures, including:

        · Paracentesis

        · Thoracentesis

        · Bone marrow and bone lesion biopsies

        · Support peri-procedural evaluation and management of complex patients

        · Ensure accurate, timely documentation of all inpatient and procedural encounters

        Preferred Qualifications:

        · Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred, not required. Relevant RN experience may be considered.

        · APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification.

        Position Requirements:

        Nurse Practitioner:

        • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process

As patient care assignments dictate, the technician I is responsive to the explicit need of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. When relevant, appropriate standards of practice and sensitivity to the psychosocial needs of these patient populations are exercised.           • Current PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required and/or EXCPT

                Summary:

                Responsibilities:

                        The Pre- Authorization Specialist Lead is responsible for obtaining and resolving referral, precertification, and/or prior authorization to support insurance specific plan requirements for all commercial, government and other payors across hospital (inpatient & outpatient), ED, and clinic/ambulatory environments. In addition, the Pre- Authorization Specialist II may be responsible for pre-appointment registration and insurance review to maximize the submission of a clean claim. The Pre-Authorization Specialist Lead is responsible for assisting management with the daily operational duties and reports.                         Responsibilities:

                        • Collects and properly records demographic and insurance information required to properly address the customers' financial issues. Verifies patient’s eligibility from resources provided by third party payers and portals and other on lines services.

                        • Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met. Present necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and clinical notes. Provide specific medical information to financial services to maximize reimbursement to the hospital and professional service providers
                        • Performs registration functions consistent with Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies and payer requirements, and organizational policies and procedures, including HIPAA privacy and security Regulations, as well as JACHO.
                        • Appropriately informs the patients of hospital policies that govern the revenue cycle, the amount owed by the patients and explains hospital payment policy. Offers option of Financial Counselors to assist with arriving at acceptable resolution of estimated patient balance.
                        • Receives and properly responds to, or directs telephone and electronic inquiries from patients, payers, physicians and their staff, internal department and other persons and entities. Ability to exercise exceptional customer service skills when communicating with both our patients as well as our internal customers. Able to find resolution within the phone interaction satisfactory to the caller and/or having the knowledge when to escalate to their supervisor.
                        • Performs other duties as assigned for the operational effectiveness and success of the department.
