      Summary:
      The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist performs specified distributive and clinical pharmacy activities and related services as they pertain to providing safe and effective infusion therapies (in accordance with State, Federal and OSHA regulations) for the Home Infusion Pharmacy. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

      Required Job Qualifications:
      •Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
      •Currently licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Illinois.
      •Experience and strong knowledge base in intravenous admixture services, intravenous drug therapy and chemotherapy.
      •Capable of assuming responsibility for evaluating and monitoring drug therapy relative to the total needs/problems of the ambulatory care patient in collaboration with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
      •Be able to work effectively with others to provide safe and effective drug therapy.
      •Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work independently and quickly in responding to and resolving a wide range of problems.
      •Flexibility with work schedule.

      Physical Demands:
      •Normal office, warehouse and clinical environments.

      Responsibilities:
      1. Receives, reviews and verifies all new patient orders and documents are the same on the respective order form.
      2. Provides consultation and answers inquiries from patients, families, physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding medications and their appropriate use.
      3. Supervises, coordinates, directs and/or participates in the preparation of sterile intravenous admixtures, dispenses all pharmaceuticals and related supplies and equipment in accordance with federal, state and local laws and standards of practice which govern the profession of pharmacy.
      4. Processes and checks all medications, supplies and equipment prior to dispensing from the pharmacy. Process all orders in a timely fashion.
      5. Maintains pharmacy records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
      6. Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy by reviewing the literature and attending in-services, seminars and conferences.
      7. Accurately administers all procedures involved with the procurement, inventory control, record maintenance and distribution of investigational drugs.
      8. Monitors drug therapy and communicates relevant findings to other health care professionals who are also responsible for patient care.
      9. Supervises support personnel in the data entry process, filling and dispensing of prescriptions, proper storage and adequate inventory control of drugs.
      10. Participates in on-call rotation.
      11. Participates in orientation/training programs for new personnel and current staff. Participates in the educational activities of pharmacy technicians and serves as a preceptor exposing them to all aspects of pharmacy practice.
      12. Participates in departmental Quality Assurance activities.
      13. Performs marketing support functions as requested.
      14. Attends department meetings as scheduled.
      15. Performs within the framework of the RUMC/HDM. L.L.C. policies and procedures.
      16. Performs other tasks or special projects as assigned by management.
      17. Use of telephone, computer systems, laminar air flow hoods, copiers, fax machines, calculator and other office equipment.

      • Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) is required within 18 months of hire.
      • BLS certified.
      • Technical skills are required to apply equipment to testing and patient needs.

      Summary:

      Rush University Medical Center is searching for an experienced finance- and accounting-oriented individual to support budgeting in a cancer clinical trials research environment.     Responsibilities:
    1. Receives, reviews and verifies all new patient orders and documents are the same on the respective order form.

    4. Processes and checks all medications, supplies and equipment prior to dispensing from the pharmacy. Process all orders in a timely fashion.
    5. Maintains pharmacy records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
    6. Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy by reviewing the literature and attending in-services, seminars and conferences.
    7. Accurately administers all procedures involved with the procurement, inventory control, record maintenance and distribution of investigational drugs.
    8. Monitors drug therapy and communicates relevant findings to other health care professionals who are also responsible for patient care.
    9. Supervises support personnel in the data entry process, filling and dispensing of prescriptions, proper storage and adequate inventory control of drugs.
    10. Participates in on-call rotation.
    11. Participates in orientation/training programs for new personnel and current staff. Participates in the educational activities of pharmacy technicians and serves as a preceptor exposing them to all aspects of pharmacy practice.
