The new 100-bed facility is a combined critical illness recovery and inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the Rush University Medical Center campus. The RUSH Specialty Hospital is outfitted with the latest technology and features 44 critical illness recovery and 56 inpatient rehabilitation beds.

      Department/division specs

      · Work alongside three fellow LTACH APPs in collaboration with Rush University Hospitalists and Select Medical.

       

      Duties & Responsibilities:

      · Rotating 10-hour shift schedule covering a 24-hour service

      · 76, 12-hour shifts/year (at 0.50 FTE)

      · Will report directly to the Hospital Medicine Lead Advanced Practice Provider

      · 100% inpatient

       

      Preferred Qualifications:

      · Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in Hospital Medicine, Critical Care or related specialty is preferred, not required. Relevant RN experience may be considered.

      · APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification.

      Position Requirements:

      Nurse Practitioner:

      • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
      • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
      • Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
      • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications

      Physician Assistant:

      • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
      • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program

      The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.         Department Specifics:

        · This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinically driven plastic surgeon with advanced microsurgical training to build a robust practice in complex reconstructive surgery.

        · The ideal candidate will have expertise in reconstructive microsurgery, complex limb salvage and peripheral nerve surgery procedures.

        · The surgeon will join a collaborative team of plastic surgeons and advanced practice providers supporting a broad range of subspecialties, including breast reconstruction, maxillofacial surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, hand surgery, and cosmetic surgery.

        Duties and Responsibilities:

        · Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in microsurgical and reconstructive procedures.

        · Develop and expand a clinical focus in microvascular reconstruction.

        · Contribute to the growth of reconstructive services through collaboration and innovation.

        · Provide comprehensive reconstructive care of the upper and lower extremities, including traumatic and post-traumatic reconstruction, oncologic limb reconstruction, limb salvage and complex wound coverage, microsurgical free tissue transfer (as applicable), and nerve, tendon, and soft tissue reconstruction

        · Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

        · Participate in education and mentorship of residents and fellows within ACGME-accredited training programs.

        · Inpatient clinical care will take place at Rush University Medical Center and Rush Oak Park Hospital.               General Summary:
              Under the guidance and direction of the unit director, the Assistant Unit Director RN (AUD) is the clinical liaison and assistant business manager of a specific patient care unit(s). In the absence of the unit director, the Assistant Unit Director RN is the RN Unit Director designee. The Assistant Unit Director Registered Nurse implements initiatives in support of the unit vision and manages human, operational and organizational systems that support patient care. Exemplifies the ROPH mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

              •Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
              •Consistent proficient performance at the RN 3 level or equivalent experience

              •BSN in nursing required; Master’s degree in nursing preferred
              •National Certification required within twelve months of hire
              3.Abilities
              •Lifting or carrying objects 30lbs. and lifting and positioning patients, with appropriate lift devices
              •Ability to walk throughout the hospital and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift
              •Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and/or contact with potentially infectious materials and/or strong chemical agents

              •Develops the clinical knowledge and skill of the staff related to strategies to maintain patient safety
              •Monitors and ensures compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act, State Board of Nursing Regulations, regulatory agency standards and the policies of the organization
              •Uses information technology to streamline and improve processes
              •Monitors and ensures nursing staff compliance with safety strategies (fall precautions, infection control, and suicide risk patient identification) to minimize risk
              •Collaborate with the Education Quality Coordinator to identify staff learning needs and provides education to strengthen and develop professional nurses' critical thinking skills.

              •Fosters the implementation of initiatives to promote a healthy work environment

              •Functions as a mentor and coach to promote or enhance the development of unit staff
