      Summary:
      General Description: The Physician Assistant Faculty- College of Health Sciences faculty member will work primarily with the clinical faculty to monitor student performance on clinical rotations, supervise existing rotation sites, recruit new sites, develop clinical curriculum, and participate in teaching and assessment activities related to clinical and didactic student training. This position requires travel for site supervision and recruitment.
      The faculty member will contribute to the educational, research, scholarship and service missions of the Program, the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, and the College of Health Sciences. This faculty position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values, and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

      Qualifications:
      1.Certified Physician Assistant with a Master’s degree in a field related to the health sciences, education, or management is required. Having, or in the process of attaining, a doctorate in a field appropriate to academic leadership in the PA profession is preferred.
      2.Must have or be eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois.
      3.Must have at least three years of experience as a clinically practicing Physician Assistant. Prior experience in PA education and course instruction preferred.

      Responsibilities:
      Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
      1.Facilitate student training on clinical rotations and participate in clinical rotation site supervision.
      2.Assist the Director of Clinical Education in activities related to clinical rotation site maintenance, including but not limited to, procuring new rotation sites, monitoring and conducting site reviews, monitoring student performance on sites, reviewing and revising clinical rotation curriculum, creating and maintaining clinical rotation schedules
      3.Instruct and lecture PA students during both didactic and clinical training
      4.Design, write, and edit assessments and examinations for students in clinical training.
      5.Provide student advising and support as indicated.
      6.Other clinical administrative duties as necessary.
      Core Duties of all Faculty, Commensurate with FTE Efforts:
      1.Serve as a course director.
      2.Advise students throughout their enrollment.
      3.Facilitate and mentor student research activities.
      4.Engage in research and other scholarly activities such as publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at regional or national professional conferences.
      5.Maintain clinical currency with health care trends, research, and PA practice, especially as it relates to area of expertise, through participating in workshops, conferences, and other training activities.
      6.Support teacher-practitioner model of the department through engaging in clinical practice and teaching
      7.Pursue external funding opportunities as they become available.
      8.Represent the Department, the College of Health Sciences and Rush University and at professional conferences and seminars.

      Sleep Surgeon – Clinical Faculty/Physician

      Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of Sleep Surgeon to join the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery.

       The RUSH Section of Sleep Surgery provides comprehensive care for patients with sleep disorders, offering the full spectrum of procedures, including nasal and soft tissue surgery, hypoglossal nerve stimulation and skeletal procedures, such as maxillomandibular advancement surgery and surgically-assisted rapid palatal expansion. The Section delivers care at main campus and affiliated sites in Oak Park and Oak Brook. The Sleep Surgery program has grown rapidly in recent years, drawing patients from the greater Chicago region and beyond. The Section has a busy research program and is involved in multiple FDA clinical trials. An ACGME sleep medicine and surgery fellowship in conjunction with the Section of Sleep Medicine is planned within 1-2 years.

      The Section is looking for an experienced sleep surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, preferably with sleep medicine and/or surgery fellowship training to join Dr. Mike Hutz, a dual-boarded Otolaryngologist and Sleep Medicine specialist. The recruit will have an opportunity to develop a comprehensive sleep surgery practice, educate residents and medical students, and participate in research and clinical trials. The faculty member will also have the opportunity to practice comprehensive otolaryngology in the department based on interest.

      The department has 20 faculty, 7 APPs, and 9 audiologists that provide comprehensive array of otolaryngology services at the main campus and 6 regional sites in Illinois and Indiana. The program is currently ranked #19 on US News and World Report, top ranking in the state of Illinois.

      Rush University Children’s Hospital, located in downtown Chicago, is seeking  a Pediatric Neurologist with expertise in pediatric epilepsy to join its growing team in the Division of Pediatric Neurology. Rush is proud to have strong programs in Epilepsy, Neurogenetics and Neuromuscular Diseases. Multiple funded research projects are ongoing in the Division with focuses on muscular dystrophy, Fragile X disease, Rett syndrome, Neimann-Pick and other neurogenetic areas.

      The successful candidate will have an interest in epilepsy surgery. Qualifications include an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent; BC/BE in Epilepsy or Neurophysiology; have completed additional fellowship training in pediatric neurophysiology/epilepsy; hold/eligible for medical licensure in Illinois. Candidates will be eligible for a faculty appointment as assistant professor or level commensurate with their experience and accomplishments.

      The ideal candidate will become actively involved in the teaching program for medical students, Pediatric residents, and Neurology residents at Rush. Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and outpatient care at main campus and regional sites. Specific activities may involve intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring, mapping of cortical function, bedside long term EEG monitoring, routine EEG and video EEG monitoring, as well as general neurology inpatient rounding.

This position, based at RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center’s downtown location, also involves working at our off-site Park Ridge, IL or Oak Brook, IL, location two to three times per month.

      Incredible opportunity for a motivated, team oriented Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to be part of the Orthopedic Oncology surgical team and Rush MD Anderson cancer center. The leaders in Orthopedic Oncology and Sarcoma care in Chicago would like to include a new Advanced Practice Provider into the care team. The current team consists of 3 surgeons, 2-3 nurses, 1 NP, 2-3 residents and 1 fellow.

      Preferred Qualifications: 

      •Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in Oncology is preferred. Relevant RN experience may be considered.

       •APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification if doing Inpatient work.

       •APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification and First Assistant Certification if working in OR. 

      Rush University System for Health and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have partnered to create RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center. The partnership represents advanced clinical and operational integration in the delivery of cancer care, providing Rush patients greater access to cancer treatments and research considered among the best in the world. 

      The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is to provide direct patient care in the outpatient and inpatient setting for the Cancer Service Line. 

      Orthopedic Oncology Patient Care

       •Caring for patients in the outpatient clinical setting, both in conjunction with the attending surgeon as well as independently

       •Conducts comprehensive History & Physicals (H&Ps) for patients with primary bone, soft tissue, or metastatic tumors. 

      •Completes preoperative H&Ps and initiates necessary medical preoperative evaluations. 

      •Performs postoperative examinations and manages complications effectively. 

      •Analyzes diagnostic and laboratory studies to formulate differential diagnoses and treatment plans. 

      •Documents patient encounters thoroughly through prompt PME, H&P, preoperative, and postoperative notes.

       •Records all patient telephone communications. 

      •Presents patient case histories and imaging at multidisciplinary conferences, documenting recommendations. 

      •Educates patients and families on diagnoses and treatment plans.

       •Emphasizes the critical importance of cancer treatment for newly diagnosed patients and ongoing tumor surveillance.

       •Facilitates seamless ongoing outpatient care by communicating with allied care providers and referring physicians.

       •Supports Business Centers by providing clinical information and conducting peer-to-peer discussions for insurance authorizations. 

      Management of Orthopedic Oncology Surgical and In-Patient Care 

      •Scheduling and coordinating all faculty surgical cases, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and OR time. 

      •Assisting in complex, life and limb saving orthopedic oncology procedures in the operating room 

      •Maintaining continuity of care of orthopedic oncology patients from helping to arrange initial visits, seeing in the office, preparing for surgery, assisting with surgery and overseeing postoperative care 

      •Facilitating seamless communication and coordination across multiple surgical services for complex multi-surgeon cases. 

      •Weekly rounding with the sarcoma team on inpatients(inpatient APN team is responsibly for all inpatient orders and care once admitted) Providing direct surgical support as first and second assist, and efficiently submitting all necessary preoperative and postoperative orders. 

      •Facilitating seamless communication and coordination across multiple surgical services for complex multi-surgeon cases.

       •Proactively managing the procurement of essential surgical materials, including contacting Bone and Tissue Bank representatives for allografts and medical device representatives for prostheses and instruments.

       •Comprehensively managing both surgical and non-surgical oncology and orthopedic oncology patients referred for consultation, addressing a wide range of oncology and orthopedic oncology diagnoses. 

      Daily Inpatient Care Management

       •Conducting thorough daily physical examinations and meticulously documenting patient encounters, progress notes, and care plans.

       •Managing complex wound and drain/tube care, alongside administering and reconciling medication orders. 

      •Educating patients and families on their condition and treatment, and providing consistent updates on their progress.

      •Streamlining patient transitions through efficient discharge planning, chart reconciliation, and coordination with case management for post-discharge services like home health. 

      •Maintaining accurate patient handoff tools to ensure seamless communication across care teams.

       •Formulating and executing appropriate plans of care, including planning for further diagnostic and therapeutic management.

       •Vigilantly monitoring for and effectively managing postoperative complications to optimize patient recovery.

       •Performing daily clinical examinations and managing wound care throughout the perioperative period.

       •Coordinating the ordering and application of orthotics and prosthetics in close collaboration with physical therapists. 

      •Actively participating in daily discharge planning in coordination with case management and inpatient nursing to facilitate smooth transitions. 

      •Completing comprehensive discharge summaries for continuity of care. 

      The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the Rush University Medical Center medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.            The RUSH Section of Sleep Surgery provides comprehensive care for patients with sleep disorders, offering the full spectrum of procedures, including nasal and soft tissue surgery, hypoglossal nerve stimulation and skeletal procedures, such as maxillomandibular advancement surgery and surgically-assisted rapid palatal expansion. The Section delivers care at main campus and affiliated sites in Oak Park and Oak Brook. The Sleep Surgery program has grown rapidly in recent years, drawing patients from the greater Chicago region and beyond. The Section has a busy research program and is involved in multiple FDA clinical trials. An ACGME sleep medicine and surgery fellowship in conjunction with the Section of Sleep Medicine is planned within 1-2 years.

          The Section is looking for an experienced sleep surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, preferably with sleep medicine and/or surgery fellowship training to join Dr. Mike Hutz, a dual-boarded Otolaryngologist and Sleep Medicine specialist. The recruit will have an opportunity to develop a comprehensive sleep surgery practice, educate residents and medical students, and participate in research and clinical trials. The faculty member will also have the opportunity to practice comprehensive otolaryngology in the department based on interest.

          The department has 20 faculty, 7 APPs, and 9 audiologists that provide comprehensive array of otolaryngology services at the main campus and 6 regional sites in Illinois and Indiana. The program is currently ranked #19 on US News and World Report, top ranking in the state of Illinois.

          •Facilitating seamless communication and coordination across multiple surgical services for complex multi-surgeon cases.

          Daily Inpatient Care Management

           •Conducting thorough daily physical examinations and meticulously documenting patient encounters, progress notes, and care plans.

           •Managing complex wound and drain/tube care, alongside administering and reconciling medication orders. 

          •Educating patients and families on their condition and treatment, and providing consistent updates on their progress.

          •Streamlining patient transitions through efficient discharge planning, chart reconciliation, and coordination with case management for post-discharge services like home health.

            The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the Rush University Medical Center medical staff bylaws.             Nurse Practitioner:

              Summary:
