      Neonatology – Clinical Faculty/Physician

      Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of full-time academic Neonatologist to join our faculty as a Physician Educator.

      The attending neonatologist will work with a team to deliver the highest level of care for critically ill infants, exemplifying the Rush mission, vision and values and acting in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

      Department/division specs

      • The Renée Schine Crown Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level 3, 72 bed (single roomed), state-of-the-art unit.
      • We care for critically ill infants who are born at Rush and/or transferred in from network hospitals.
      • Our patient mix ranges from extremely preterm infants to those with complex surgical needs.
      • Our NICU has a robust multidisciplinary Quality Improvement (QI) program led by a neonatologist with expertise and certification in QI. Our center has had consistent excellent outcomes in several major neonatal morbidities in very low birth weight infants within the Vermont Oxford Network.
      • The Division partners with Obstetrics and Pediatric subspecialists to provide prenatal care and consultation through our multidisciplinary Fetal-Neonatal Medicine Center.
      • Our productive NICU Human Milk research team at Rush conducts clinical and translational research in diverse areas: clinical, neurodevelopmental and economic outcomes associated with mother’s own milk and donor milk, disparities in lactation, human milk science, and lactation physiology.

      Duties & Responsibilities:

      • In-hospital clinical care during daytime, overnight and/or on weekends and holidays. The shifts are a combination of 10-hr, 16-hr, 18-hr and 26-hr in length. Clinical shifts will be at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and possibly at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
      • Clinical care responsibilities: delivery room attendance and infant resuscitation, antenatal and pediatric (infant) consultations, care delivery in NICU, and supervision of neonatal transports

      · Educational responsibilities include teaching medical students, residents, nurse practitioner students, and fellows

      • Clinical responsibilities may also include outpatient services in the Fetal-Neonatal Medicine Center or Neonatal High-Risk Follow-Up Clinic
      • Providing education and supervision to APPs and trainees in developing clinical care plans and performing procedures
      • Participation in NICU committees and development of clinical guidelines

      Qualifications:

      · Applicants should be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and qualified for a faculty appointment in Rush Medical College.

          Summary:

          Seeking a detail-oriented and scientifically driven Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support diagnostic neuropathology workflows for Alzheimer's disease, cerebrovascular pathologies, and other neurodegenerative diseases within the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center. This role entails performing tissue dissections and processing, cutting, and staining human tissue. The research fellow will use routine and quantitative microscopic techniques (optical dissector stereology, image analysis, slide scanning/computerized algorithms, confocal) for the collection of neuropathologic and neuroanatomic markers and evaluating microscopic degenerative, vascular, and inflammatory neuropathologies to diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease and related pathologies, and other neurodegenerative and vascular diseases of aging. This Research Fellow will also apply digital image analysis workflows using platforms such as HALO, Aperio ImageScope, or comparable systems for segmentation and morphometric analysis and perform macroscopic evaluations of brain pathology for common diseases and aspects of aging. This role also requires participation in human autopsy rotation, including on-call brain procurement and postmortem tissue dissection and processing.

          Summary:

          The Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center is seeking a Research Scientist II. This person will be involved in helping to examine how life-course risk factors interact with plasma biomarkers and genetics to influence cognitive decline in the Black Women’s Health Study. The Black Women’s Health Study (BWHS), initiated in 1995 to assess causes of cancers and non-malignant illnesses among Black women, is conducting a cognitive aging study with Rush University. The position at Rush will utilize knowledge of cognitive function, epidemiology, and health disparities, statistics, and other fields. Specific conditions of study will include cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, health disparities, and others. This person will troubleshoot and evaluate data, contribute to planning of analyses, and prepare manuscripts based on results. The work requires the application of highly specialized knowledge of neuropsychology. Some of the related techniques that may be applied in the research will include comprehensive literature reviews with summarization, working with data management and laboratories to identify variables for projects, harmonize data between BWHS and Rush cohorts, writing detailed biostatistical requests, summarizing data outputs, drafting, and revising manuscripts for publication, presentations at scientific meetings, and otherwise. The Research Scientist II is involved in training students (such as PhD candidates) and postdocs and will be expected to do occasional presentations within the scientific group.Other information:

          Summary:

          Performs Laboratory Testing

          Quality Control and Preventative Maintenance
          Performs required quality control (QC) procedures and preventative maintenance, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation. Notifies the appropriate supervisor or designee regarding QC problems or discrepancies according to the established procedure.             Summary:

            Seeking a detail-oriented and scientifically driven Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support diagnostic neuropathology workflows for Alzheimer's disease, cerebrovascular pathologies, and other neurodegenerative diseases within the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center. This role entails performing tissue dissections and processing, cutting, and staining human tissue.             The Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center is seeking a Research Scientist II. This person will be involved in helping to examine how life-course risk factors interact with plasma biomarkers and genetics to influence cognitive decline in the Black Women’s Health Study. The Black Women’s Health Study (BWHS), initiated in 1995 to assess causes of cancers and non-malignant illnesses among Black women, is conducting a cognitive aging study with Rush University. The position at Rush will utilize knowledge of cognitive function, epidemiology, and health disparities, statistics, and other fields. Specific conditions of study will include cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, health disparities, and others. This person will troubleshoot and evaluate data, contribute to planning of analyses, and prepare manuscripts based on results. The work requires the application of highly specialized knowledge of neuropsychology. Some of the related techniques that may be applied in the research will include comprehensive literature reviews with summarization, working with data management and laboratories to identify variables for projects, harmonize data between BWHS and Rush cohorts, writing detailed biostatistical requests, summarizing data outputs, drafting, and revising manuscripts for publication, presentations at scientific meetings, and otherwise.             Develop, implement, and enforce BIM standards and protocols to ensure compliance with healthcare-specific regulations, supporting patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory readiness.
            Collaborate with Finance to conduct yearly audits and validate the accuracy of the current drawings and associated spreadsheets. Utilize BIM data for analytics and reporting to provide insights into space utilization, facility optimization, and asset management, informing strategic decision-making and supporting efficient resource allocation.
            Conduct field audits to validate the accuracy of the current BIM drawings and associated life safety and space allocation information.
            Collaborate with PDC and Facilities staff with regards to active or on-going projects.
            Coordinate with clinical and IT departments to ensure BIM data supports operational workflows, patient safety, and healthcare-specific infrastructure requirements, facilitating cross-departmental alignment.
            Candidate must research and stay informed on best practices for the use of Revit Architecture and BIM.
            Must be a self-starter and possess the drive to pursue continued education on BIM and its role in facilities planning and operation.
            Responsible for internal training and training for new hires & intermediate level staff of the BIM and PDC departments.
            Lead and mentor junior BIM team members, providing training on BIM standards, tools, and workflows, fostering growth and skill development within the team.
            Work with PDC staff to track projects in construction so that all appropriate departmental tasks (plan updates, archival research, collection of record drawings) are completed in an efficient and effective manner.
            Oversee BIM integration on complex construction projects, including renovations and new builds, managing project deliverables with external contractors and ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
            Work with PDC staff to create budgets for future technology adoption that aligns with RUSH BIM goals. Lead digital transformation initiatives within the PDC department by implementing cutting-edge BIM technologies and methodologies, staying informed on innovations in healthcare facilities design and digital modeling.
            Attend conferences, seminars and workshops for BIM, and bring back the knowledge disseminated to the BIM group and department leaders.
            Represent RUSH’s BIM program at industry events, conferences, and user groups, staying informed on best practices and emerging technologies
            Active involvement in the larger “BIM World” groups and organizations: o Examples: Autodesk University, AUGI (Autodesk User Group International), BIM Storm, AIA Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP), Local User Groups – Including state and universities.
            Exhibits ability to lead small to medium size design and construction projects within RUSH. Including code analysis, design, and construction administration. Responsible for updating Revit building models regarding new construction or renovation.

            Summary:
            This position performs a variety of breast imaging procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity and competency. Performs dual role breast ultrasound exams performing both mammography images and ultrasound sonography and related procedures by operating Ultrasound equipment to make images of designated areas and evaluate the technical quality of images.             Required Job Qualifications:
            • Graduate of/ obtained certification of completion of/ a formal Accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
            • Active certification by American Registry and Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS, BR) in Breast or by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT, BS) with advanced certification in Breast Ultrasound
            • 2 years of Breast Imaging experience.
            • Demonstrate sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to patient for anatomical, pathological and diagnostic information and images.
            • Demonstrate independent judgment to acquire the optimum breast sonographic information in each examination performed.
            • Ability to evaluate images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded and correct imaging protocol is followed.

            Responsibilities:
            1.Serves as in a dual role performing both mammography images and ultrasound sonography.
            2.Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation in mammography and the ultrasound modalities
            3.Performs screening mammograms unsupervised and performs diagnostic breast imaging studies under the supervision of the radiologist
            4.Performs screening examinations independently.
            5.Performs diagnostic examinations independently.
            6.Assists with diagnostic mammography procedures in the diagnostic mammography suite as needed.
            7.Performs Breast ultrasound exams and procedures which may take between 15 to 90 minutes.
            8.Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation and assists radiologist with invasive procedures using aseptic techniques.
            9.Assesses patients through review of previous studies and history to determine screening versus diagnostic patients.
            10.Independently performs clinical assessment and breast sonography examinations with minimal supervision.
            11.Trains other mammography technologists on ultrasound techniques and procedures, monitors competencies.
            12.Provides appropriate instructions for patients, and assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patients while they are in the sonographer’s care.
            13.Provides sonography instruction, oversees and coaches hands on clinical breast ultrasound exam performance for cross-training mammography technologists and students.
            14.Trains mammography technologist on the skills required to perform ultrasound imaging and procedures.
            15.Develops competencies and ensures that newly trained staff are competent in fulfilling their responsibilities as ultrasound sonographers.
            16.Monitors quality and evaluates imaging and new ultrasound sonographers.
            17.Develops training programs for new ultrasound equipment as necessary by the practice and maintains skills up to date with the field of ultrasound sonography.
