Rush University Medical Center is currently recruiting for Medical Weight Loss Advanced Practice Providers(APP) to join their Department of Surgery. This provider will work alongside four fellow APPs and one physician on either a five-day, eight-hour schedule or a four-day, 10-hour schedule; both with no weekends. One role will provide outpatient coverage at Rush University Medical Center and Rush's Outpatient Center in Munster, IN; and the other will rotate between Rush Oak Park and Rush Copley in Aurora.
*Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
Clinical
• Completes and documents an accurate history and physical examination of patients.
• Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans
• Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice
• Prescribes medications, including controlled substances to the extent delegated including non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
• Orders, interprets, and performs laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures.
• Provides clear, concise, and accurate information in the electronic medical record.
• Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations
• Make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals and/or agencies
• Provides direct patient care in assigned areas, which may be in a hospital or ambulatory setting.

Required Job Qualifications:
• Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant Licensure.
• Current Certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Degree from an ARC-PA (or predecessor) accredited PA Program.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Licensure.
• Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a national certifying organization Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner educational program.
• The APN's education and specialty board certification must correlate with the APP's job role, setting, responsibility and patient population.
• Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing.
• BLS certification.

The Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Program at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, is expanding its Interventional Movement Disorder Program which oversees the management of patients being evaluated for and receiving therapies such as Deep Brain Stimulation, infusion therapies and MRI guided focused ultrasound. We are seeking an Assistant Professor to join twelve other full-time Movement Disorders specialists to join its program focused on Patient Care, Research and Education. The Interventional Movement Disorder Program provider team is composed of three neurologists, two neurology physician assistants, one neurosurgeon and one neurosurgery nurse practitioner covering 3 campuses across the Rush University Health System. Applicants should have a clinical and research interest in the utilization of deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, and therapies for advanced disease states to join the interventional movement disorders team. Potential secondary interest(s) in one of the following: genetics, cognition, neuropsychiatric issues, physiology, imaging or basic science are encouraged. The position will be clinically focused, with opportunities for research collaboration and educational initiatives.

The selected individual will join a section of eight clinical faculty to cover outpatient and inpatient needs for the Transplant Service Line, while collaborating closely with Dr. Steven Flamm, Clinical Director of Network Development and Outreach for the Transplant Service Line and Director of Research in the Section of Hepatology, at the Rush downtown campus and the seven liver transplant outreach sites where you will assist in building strong referring relationships for the Rush Solid Organ Transplant program.

Applicants should have a clinical and research interest in the utilization of deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, and therapies for advanced disease states to join the interventional movement disorders team. Potential secondary interest(s) in one of the following: genetics, cognition, neuropsychiatric issues, physiology, imaging or basic science are encouraged. The position will be clinically focused, with opportunities for research collaboration and educational initiatives.

The selected individual will join a section of eight clinical faculty to cover outpatient and inpatient needs for the Transplant Service Line, while collaborating closely with Dr. Steven Flamm, Clinical Director of Network Development and Outreach for the Transplant Service Line and Director of Research in the Section of Hepatology, at the Rush downtown campus and the seven liver transplant outreach sites where you will assist in building strong referring relationships for the Rush Solid Organ Transplant program.
Qualified candidates must possess a strong commitment to patient care, resident education, and research. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in both transplant hepatology as well as gastroenterology and be eligible for faculty appointment at the assistant professor level or above. Candidates should have experience in clinical hepatology and liver transplantation, along with a strong interest and successful track record in establishing referring provider relationships for liver transplant and have a deep desire and proven expertise in growth strategies for Liver Transplant programs. Performs Laboratory Testing
Utilizes required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as defined by the lab area. Labels and processes specimens properly. Performs all laboratory procedures efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision once trained. All testing must be done following Rush approved Policies and Procedures.
Quality Control and Preventative Maintenance
Performs required quality control (QC) procedures and preventative maintenance, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation. Troubleshooting

Time Management

Continuing Education

Tech-in-Charge

Reviews lab results as required and takes appropriate action before verification and release. Recognizes and calls critical results within defined time frames. Reviews paper generated results and transcribes accurately into the Lab Information System.
