Summary:
General Summary:
The Endoscopy Technician III works under the direction of a physician, department leadership, and/or registered nurse. Provides support to the Endoscopy department before, during and after procedures. This role will serve as a resource, coach, and preceptor for other Endoscopy Technicians at RUMC while performing the duties of disinfecting endoscopic equipment, assisting physicians with the technical components of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures as assigned. •Under direction of the physician and supervision of a registered nurse, the Endoscopy Technician III will insert peripheral intravenous lines (PIV) and applies dressing in compliance with hospital and unit procedure.
•Demonstrates basic understanding of procedure to be performed ensuring proper placement of PIV line to not interfere with planned procedure
•Provides instruction/information to patient/significant other concerning placement of IV line/care being provided.
•Assists in emergency situations as needed.
•Under the direction of physician and supervision of a registered nurse, performs phlebotomy as assigned. 4.Assists clinical team with endoscopic procedures that includes pre-procedure set-up (including documentation within ProVation and scope tracking software programs), assistance intra-procedure with specimen collection and treatments (including obtaining tissue specimens, polypectomies, therapeutic injections, and dilatations), and post-procedure processes with management of equipment and supplies.
5.Demonstrates proficiency in the use of unit specific equipment and supplies that includes preparing and maintaining endoscopic equipment during procedures (i.e., electro-cautery, heating probes, endoscopic light source).
6.Demonstrates accurate cleaning and disinfecting procedures for all endoscopes and accessory equipment that adheres to Infection Control Guidelines and equipment manufacturer instructions for use.
7.Reports equipment malfunctions to either charge nurse or unit leadership and ensures the scope tracking process is maintained within the scope tracking program (SPM).
8.Reports to Charge RN or designee for assignment of duties and sets priority of duties based on needs of patient and unit, under the direction of the RN.
9.Keeps procedure rooms orderly and independently organizes and restocks according to unit specifications.
10.Transports laboratory specimens, blood products, and patient belongings as required and assists with the admission, discharge, and transport of patients.
11.Performs routine specimen collections (blood glucose, urine, etc.).

Responsibilities:
1.Connects the Clinical Operations knowledge and experience to the Revenue Integrity, charge description master (CDM), charge capture and metrics to ensure accurate revenue and reimbursement
2.Improves revenue results by optimizing and improving the clinical, operational, and revenue integrity processes related to patient charges
3.Builds relationships within the revenue cycle, and engage clinical areas of the organization that serve as mutually beneficial partnerships
4.Reviews CPT/HCPCS descriptions and charges with clinical documentation to ensure compliant charging
5.Identifies services performed in the clinical department for individual patients that need to be built in the Charge Description Master (CDM)or be charged on a patient’s account based on CPT/HCPCS descriptions compared to clinical activities. Adjusts charges on patient accounts as needed.
6.Identifies chargeable supplies, implants, devices, and pharmaceuticals
7.Identifies and trouble-shoots charging, CDM, or clinical documentation issues and works with ancillary departments to resolve
8.Provides recommendations on cost-containment related to charges, for clinical areas
9.Contributes to internal controls to ensure compliance with charging regulations
10.Serves as a clinical resource and subject matter resource (SME) for Revenue Cycle teammates
11.Works collaboratively with clinical staff, operations, ancillary departments, teammates, and vendors
12.Identifies patterns, trends, variances, and opportunities to improve charging accuracy
13.Engages clinical departments in revenue integrity; research code and charge questions as requested
14.Provides education to clinical departments to promote appropriate charge capture processes and documentation requirements for specific charge activity
15.Engages in development and growth in the Revenue Integrity Nurse specialty

Pay Range: $38.02 - $55.18 per hour

Summary:
Supervises the technical operations of the laboratory, including resource and personnel management. This position is responsible for performing all assigned laboratory testing and reporting for the testing area. This position requires teamwork to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to clients and patients. Demonstrates proficiency in identifying and resolving process issues that affect the laboratory's ability to perform laboratory testing. Serves as an expert within the assigned field of responsibility. Instructs students, residents, new employees, and their direct reports. Evaluates their performance within established deadlines. Participates in presenting case studies or in-services. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. •CLIA QUALIFICATION FOR TESTING
•Education: Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in relevant science required
•A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the specific laboratory discipline the role oversees is required. Certain laboratory specialties may necessitate more stringent certification criteria. In addition, candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of leading projects, implementing programs, and serving as a subject matter expert within a laboratory setting.
•Certification from nationally recognized certifying agency required. Eligibility as determined by ASCP and/or AMT requirements. Some laboratory disciplines may require more stringent certification criteria.
•Acceptable credentials (can vary depending on the laboratory section):
oMedical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) via the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
oMedical Technologist (MT) via the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
oBlood Bank (BB) via the ASCP
oChemistry (C) via the ASCP
oCytogenetics (CG) via the ASCP
oCytotechnologist (CT) via the ASCP
oHematology (H) via the ASCP
oMicrobiology (M) via the ASCP
oMolecular Biology (MB) via the ASCP
oTechnologist in HLA (CHT) or Specialist in HLA (CHS) via ACHI
