      Summary:
      The Infection Preventionist is responsible for activities related to infection prevention, surveillance and control throughout Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) and Rush University Medical Group (RUMG). This role coordinates investigations of patient, staff or visitor infections and/or suspected exposures and reports to appropriate internal personnel or departments and external agencies. Collaborates with the Manager of Infection Prevention and Control and the Hospital Epidemiologist to reduce the risk of healthcare associated infection and ensure the safety and health of all personnel. The Infection Preventionist exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

      Required Job Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s degree, in science or other health related field

      Responsibilities:
      • Administers the RUMC program to prevent infections in the hospital, ambulatory care sites, university, and research laboratories.
      • Develops reduction strategy, assists with implementation and reports findings/outcomes.
      • Analyzes data on epidemiologically significant organisms and nosocomial infections.
      • Implements the annual Infection Prevention and Control program and plan which includes prioritized risks, goals and review of activities.
      • Contributes to the annual review of the Infection Control and Prevention program.
      • Reviews policies and procedures from the perspective of infection prevention and control.
      • Implements infection prevention and control measures recommended by the Infection Prevention and Control Committee (IPCC), Health Alert Network (HAN) and the department of health.

      • Consultants and addresses cleaning, disinfection and sterilization practices.
      • Conducts infection surveillance activities throughout the medical center and implements a priority-directed methodology for surveillance to minimize potential outbreaks of infectious diseases.
      • Inspects patient care environments to detect possible infection hazards.
      • Evaluates compliance with medical center infection control policies.
      • Communicates with employee health staff to monitor and treat personnel for actual or potential exposure.
      • Evaluates new construction or renovation projects and communicates strategies to minimize dust contamination and identifies design decisions that may increase risk of infection.
      • Represents Infection Prevention and Control on task forces and committees.
      • Investigates clusters of infections, documents the infection, and determines if cluster is beyond an acceptable level.
      • Participates in special studies under the direction of the IPCC or the Director, Infection Prevention and Control.
      • Advises clinical staff on the appropriate utilization of standard and transmission based precautions.
      • Responds to and identifies emerging pathogens and threats in concert with the Hospital Epidemiologist and Section of Infectious Diseases.
      • Collaborates with Employee and Corporate Health Services (ECHS) to develop and implement strategies that reduce the risk of infectious disease transmission to healthcare providers.
      • Reports on infections and surveillance activities to departments, medical center quality committees, public health agencies and centers for disease control.
      • Enters data into the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and verifies data prior to submission to NHSN.
      • Prepares reports on infection prevention and control activities for the IPCC.

      Department/division specs

      · Work alongside three fellow LTACH APPs in collaboration with Rush University Hospitalists and Select Medical.

       

      Duties & Responsibilities:

      · Rotating 10-hour shift schedule covering a 24-hour service

      · 76, 12-hour shifts/year (at 0.50 FTE)

      · Will report directly to the Hospital Medicine Lead Advanced Practice Provider

      Preferred Qualifications:

      · Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in Hospital Medicine, Critical Care or related specialty is preferred, not required. Relevant RN experience may be considered.

      · APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification.

      Nurse Practitioner:

        We are seeking a 0.5 FTE Advanced Practice Provider (FNP or PA) to join and help expand our Pediatric Sleep Medicine Program.

        This position offers a unique opportunity to partner directly with the Pediatric Sleep Medical Director to grow and shape the pediatric sleep program. As an independent provider, the APP will play a critical role in expanding access, developing clinical pathways, supporting quality initiatives, and enhancing program visibility within the Rush system and referring community.

        This is an ideal opportunity for an APP who is passionate about pediatric care, pediatric/adult sleep medicine, and program development within an academic medical center.

        Department/division specs:

        · Partner with pediatric and adult sleep medicine physicians within the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine

        · Collaborate with the current four APPs within the RUSH adult sleep program

        Duties & Responsibilities:

        · Four half-day clinics with two additional patient-facing hours (18 hours total) – 8am-5pm

        Preferred Qualifications:

        · Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in pediatric sleep medicine is preferred, not required. Relevant RN experience may be considered.

        Nurse Practitioner:

        • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process

          We are seeking a 0.5 FTE Advanced Practice Provider (FNP or PA) to join and help expand our Pediatric Sleep Medicine Program.

          This position offers a unique opportunity to partner directly with the Pediatric Sleep Medical Director to grow and shape the pediatric sleep program. As an independent provider, the APP will play a critical role in expanding access, developing clinical pathways, supporting quality initiatives, and enhancing program visibility within the Rush system and referring community.

            3.Maintains and retrieves medical records per HIM and office protocol.
            4.Addresses patient calls efficiently and courteously. Takes accurate, clear and concise messages that provide sufficient information for the clinical staff and/or receiving party to effectively handle the issue/request.
            5.Schedules, cancels and/or reschedules patient appointments, as assigned. Places reminder calls or sends information to patients in advance of their appointment per office policy.
            6.Appropriately transfers patients to pre-registration for insurance verification.
            7.Prepares and disseminates patient letters and other correspondence from EPIC.

            Summary:
            The Revenue Integrity Audit Coordinator uses advanced organizational skills to account for audit requests and ensure timely processing. This role aids other audit team members, compliance, HIM, billing, and revenue cycle team members. By developing processes/procedures to ensure accurate and timely medical records requests, tracking, and trending, this role is integral to ensuring that Rush responds to audit requests on-time, which has a direct relationship with audit outcomes. The Revenue Integrity Audit Coordinator also provides high-level professional support to the Revenue Integrity department. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

            Other information:
            •Associates degree or extensive years of related work experience for competency
            •Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience working with billing, audits, denials, charge entry, charge capture, or CDM
            •Proficient and functional knowledge of hospital and professional charges in the Epic EHR.
            •Advanced knowledge of medical terminology as well as medical billing language. Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of UB-04 Revenue Codes, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Level II along with modifiers

            •Provides input and implements process improvement initiatives recognizing efficiency, prevention of audits, and revenue enhancement including how to harness technology and automation to optimize efficiency
            •Monitor and work accounts in Epic work queues
            •Communicate, observe, and report on charge entry trends and patterns and provides recommendations for improvement
            •Engage in continual education and training in the revenue integrity field and healthcare CDM, charges, auditing, data, and other duties or projects as assigned
