      Summary:
      The Oncology Nurse Navigator 2 is a registered nurse (RN) who works with physician practices and multi-disciplinary teams to promote the effective utilization of services and coordination of care for patients within the Cancer Center service line. The Oncology Nurse Navigator 2 contributes to the assessment of patients' psychosocial, financial and clinical needs throughout the continuum of care ensuring high quality care while supporting quality metrics of the Cancer Center and Rush University Medical Center The Oncology Nurse Navigator 2 functions as a liaison between patients, physician practices, the hospital, and the community performing functions that meet the core competencies of oncology navigation; Care Coordination, Communication, Education, and Professional Role/Care as well as the domains of the Profession Practice Model; Relationships and Caring, Evidence Based Practice, Technical Expertise, Critical Thinking and Leadership. The Oncology Nurse Navigator 2 care may be focused in medical oncology, hematology, stem cell transplant, gyne-oncology, surgery, radiation oncology, cancer screening or supporting multi-disciplinary clinics.       Technical Expertise1. Responds to patient questions and needs via various technology: “My Chart,” staff messages, telephone contact, etc.
      2.Coordinates/Schedules admissions, surgeries, laboratory testing, radiographic exam, and infusion.

      4.Establishes plan for venous access via assessment of peripheral veins.

      Under the supervision and in collaboration with board-certified gastroenterologists, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers high-quality care to patients with digestive health concerns. This role is ideal for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) looking for a Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU) type position.  

      Duties & Responsibilities:

      • The primary responsibility includes managing the patient’s immediate post-operative recovery, ensuring they are stable and comfortable while monitoring vital signs, pain levels and complications
      • Other job responsibilities include inpatient follow ups and outpatient clinic.
      • Monday – Friday: 7:00am-5:00 PM; 40 hours of patient-facing care per week. No weekends, holidays, or on call required.

       

      Qualifications:

      · Experience of 2 years or more of previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in Gastroenterology, Surgery, Intensive Care is required for this role.

       Position Requirements:

      Nurse Practitioner:

                  Position Requirements:

                  Nurse Practitioner:

                  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse
                  • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
                  • Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
                  • Maintains State of Illinois and Federal DEA license
                  • Must maintain Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), Rush Oak Park Hospital (ROPH), and Rush Copley Medical Center (RCMC) clinical privileges, as applicable.
                  • CPR, ACLS and PALS certifications.
                  • Excellent communicator
                  • Experience treating patients of all ages
                  • Procedural experience (simple laceration repair, I&D)

                  Physician Assistant:

                  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate
                  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
                  • Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
                  • Must maintain Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), Rush Oak Park Hospital (ROPH), and Rush Copley Medical Center (RCMC) clinical privileges, as applicable
                  • Excellent communicator
                  • Experience treating patients of all ages
                  • Procedural experience (simple laceration repair, I&D)

                  Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, specialty; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. Additional compensation may include premium pay rates, sign-on bonuses, and relocation allowances. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.

                  Pay Range: $129,450 - $182,000
