The new 100-bed facility is a combined critical illness recovery and inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the Rush University Medical Center campus. The hospital opened in April 2024 and features 44 critical illness recovery and 56 inpatient rehabilitation beds.

      This Inpatient Physiatry position offers unique opportunities:

      • Rush is expanding care to critical illness recovery & inpatient rehabilitation patients in our new state of the art facility via a joint venture with Select Medical

      • Provide direct care to inpatient rehabilitation patient populations and consultative services to critical illness recovery patient populations on a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, working collaboratively to optimize patient outcomes

      The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation seeks a BE/BC Physiatrist with strong interpersonal skills to join the expanding PM&R team. The position will assist in growth of the inpatient service line including consultation services. This is a hybrid role that consists of inpatient service at the downtown Rush University Medical Center campus. This position includes research, community engagement, and teaching opportunities. The Department is part of the Rush Neurosciences Service Line and collaborates with nationally and internationally renowned neurosurgeons, transplant surgeons, cancer providers and other specialists.

      This individual would join a robust team of expert faculty who treat thousands of adults and children with disabilities secondary to a variety of conditions including acute and chronic neurological and complex medical conditions, deconditioning, spine pain, osteoarthritis and peripheral joint disease, osteoporosis and general outpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation care.       Rush University Medical Center and the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is currently recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Adult ICU. This provider will join a team of both physicians and eight critical care APPs on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule that provides 24/7 care to critically ill medical patients at the Rush main campus. This opportunity will require an anticipated 12-14 shifts per month. APPs will work autonomously and in collaboration with Rush pulmonary/critical care attending physicians and fellows and will be required to perform a number of procedures including central line placements, paracentesis and temporary hemodialysis catheter placements, among other duties.

      *APRN candidates must hold acute care certification.

      *Advanced Practice Provider experience in the ICU is strongly preferred.

      The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

      Responsibilities:

      Clinical

      • Completes and documents an accurate history and physical examination of patients.

      • Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans

      • Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice

      • Prescribes medications, including controlled substances to the extent delegated including non-pharmacologic treatment modalities

      • Orders, interprets, and performs laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures.

      • Provides clear, concise, and accurate information in the electronic medical record.

      • Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations

      • Make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals and/or agencies

      • Provides direct patient care in assigned areas, which may be in a hospital or ambulatory setting.

      Required Job Qualifications:

      • Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant Licensure.

      • Current Certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

      • Degree from an ARC-PA (or predecessor) accredited PA Program.

      • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Licensure.

      • Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a national certifying organization Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner educational program.

      • The APN's education and specialty board certification must correlate with the APP's job role, setting, responsibility and patient population.

      • Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing.

      • BLS certification.

      • Demonstrates competency in all areas of APP practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice based learning and improvement, and systems based practice.

      • Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic and paper medical records

      • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.

      The Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Program at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, is expanding its Interventional Movement Disorder Program which oversees the management of patients being evaluated for and receiving therapies such as Deep Brain Stimulation, infusion therapies and MRI guided focused ultrasound. We are seeking an Assistant Professor to join twelve other full-time Movement Disorders specialists to join its program focused on Patient Care, Research and Education. The Interventional Movement Disorder Program provider team is composed of three neurologists, two neurology physician assistants, one neurosurgeon and one neurosurgery nurse practitioner covering 3 campuses across the Rush University Health System. Applicants should have a clinical and research interest in the utilization of deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, and therapies for advanced disease states to join the interventional movement disorders team. Potential secondary interest(s) in one of the following: genetics, cognition, neuropsychiatric issues, physiology, imaging or basic science are encouraged. The position will be clinically focused, with opportunities for research collaboration and educational initiatives.

      Rush University holds several Centers of Excellence designations and is the largest and oldest movement disorder program in Chicagoland. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will join a larger movement disorder program, with 12 movement disorder neurologists, 3 neuropsychologists, 2 psychiatrists, and 15 clinical staff. The program also has a large clinical and translational research infrastructure, with 15 clinical research managers and coordinators.

      Qualified candidates must have completed a fellowship program and be Board Certified in Neurology. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to patient care, resident and fellow education, clinical medicine, and research. Candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher commensurate with their experience and accomplishments in Rush Medical College. This recruitment is part of a key strategic growth initiative at Rush University Medical Center. This provider will join a team of both physicians and eight critical care APPs on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule that provides 24/7 care to critically ill medical patients at the Rush main campus. This opportunity will require an anticipated 12-14 shifts per month. APPs will work autonomously and in collaboration with Rush pulmonary/critical care attending physicians and fellows and will be required to perform a number of procedures including central line placements, paracentesis and temporary hemodialysis catheter placements, among other duties.

    *APRN candidates must hold acute care certification.

    *Advanced Practice Provider experience in the ICU is strongly preferred.

    The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.     Candidates must have completed a formal ASN/AST Accredited Transplant Nephrology Fellowship and have Board Certification in Nephrology. The candidate will join the Division of Nephrology, and work within the Transplant Service Line, which is comprised of eleven Advanced Practice Providers and thirteen clinical faculty.  The selected candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership across all phases of transplant nephrology, including pre-transplant, peri-transplant, and post-transplant care, with a focus on delivering efficient, evidence-based, and guideline-driven care. This role includes ensuring full compliance with Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) regulations related to patient evaluation, ongoing care, data collection and submission, and clinical outcomes. Additionally, the physician will lead and oversee quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing care processes and outcomes throughout the transplant continuum.

    The mission of the Transplant Service Line at Rush University Medical Center is to provide superior patient care and maintain superb clinical outcomes. We work collaboratively across multiple disciplines to ensure the patients will receive true multidisciplinary care in the entire continuum of the pre-transplant, perioperative and post-transplant care. We are seeking an Assistant Professor to join twelve other full-time Movement Disorders specialists to join its program focused on Patient Care, Research and Education. The Interventional Movement Disorder Program provider team is composed of three neurologists, two neurology physician assistants, one neurosurgeon and one neurosurgery nurse practitioner covering 3 campuses across the Rush University Health System. Applicants should have a clinical and research interest in the utilization of deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, and therapies for advanced disease states to join the interventional movement disorders team. Potential secondary interest(s) in one of the following: genetics, cognition, neuropsychiatric issues, physiology, imaging or basic science are encouraged. The position will be clinically focused, with opportunities for research collaboration and educational initiatives.

    Oncology Hospitalist – Clinical Faculty

    Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the positions of BC/BE Oncology Hospitalist. The ideal candidate would want a position in an academic setting after Hematology/Oncology fellowship training and has a demonstrated interest in clinical Oncology. The predominant criteria for all appointments are a major commitment to patient satisfaction, excellence in clinical care, teaching, and institutional service. The successful candidate will possess professional qualifications that include: Hematology, Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology training with board certification/eligibility, MD or MD/PhD (or equivalent), and have experience in clinical practice. Candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above.

    The inpatient medical oncology hospitalist will engage in a broad specialty inpatient practice in medical oncology which will include new oncology consultations for hospitalized patients, oncology care collaboratively with the primary service for Rush medical oncology patients hospitalized for acute illness as well as supervision of inpatient chemotherapy. The successful candidate will spend 100% clinical effort covering the inpatient service and will work collaboratively with both the primary hospital service, specialty consultants and the outpatient oncology team. This position offers opportunities for clinical, administrative, and teaching activities in the Section of Medical Oncology. The successful candidate will also participate in inpatient rounds & teaching medical students, residents, and fellows who may rotate through the service.

    Our new, state-of-the-art Cancer Center facility in Chicago serves as a hub for services throughout our health system. Our core programs are supported by multi-disciplinary teams from hematology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, research and bioinformatics, clinical operations, and dedicated clinical and support staff, including patient navigators. This structure allows specialists to more easily consult and see patients based on tumor type or molecular and genomic signatures, combining our outstanding multidisciplinary approach with a data infrastructure that supports this patient-centered care. This integration enables us to make a greater commitment to research, dramatically scaling the effectiveness of clinical trials, and enabling translational research that moves bench to bedside, and bedside to bench.
