Summary:
The Phlebotomist obtains blood specimens from patients by the invasive procedure of venipuncture. Once proficient in adult and geriatric venipuncture and with additional training, the phlebotomist performs skin puncture on neonates, skin puncture or venipuncture on children and adolescents. The phlebotomist is a liaison between the physician and Rush Medical Laboratories. The phlebotomist (Laboratory Liaison Technician) is responsible for collecting specimens for routine, timed and STAT collections. Summary:
This position works under the general direction of the Office of Research Affairs' Clinical Research Administration Division, their clinical department / division, and in partnership with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-investigator(s), other study personnel, and sponsoring agents to ensure protocols are conducted in accordance with the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) S/he will coordinate standard clinical research studies conducted by PI(s) which may include grant-funded, industry sponsored, and investigator-initiated clinical research studies. S/he will perform a variety of routine duties involving the collection, compilation, and documentation of clinical research data. The Transplant Coordinator RN 2 is responsible for coordination of the evaluation and preparation of patients for organ transplantation and long-term management of patients after transplant. Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the direct supervision of the Clinical Pharmacy Specialists and Pharmacy Technicians.
2. Participates/coordinates orientation and training of pharmacy personnel to include new protocols/products and assures continuing education requirements are maintained.
3. Guides pharmacy toward achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual projections based on financial and management objectives.
4. Coordinates with the Manager - HDM Operations to ensure economic purchase of sufficient inventory of generic and brand name medications and supplies.
5. Leads staff meetings as needed.
6. Develops and reinforces the process for review, receipt and verification of new patient orders and documentation of the same on the required order form(s).
7. Provides consultation and acts as a leading-edge educational resource for inquiries from patients, families, physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding medications and their use.
8. Develops and maintains policies and procedures, supervises, coordinates, directs and/or participates in the preparation of sterile admixtures, dispenses pharmaceuticals and related supplies and equipment in accordance with federal, state and local laws, standards of practice and JCAHO guidelines which govern the profession of pharmacy.
9. Maintains pharmacy records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
10. Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy by reviewing the literature and attending in-services, seminars and conferences.
11. Participates in on-call rotation and physician rounds ensuring leading-edge oncology pharmacy insight and dimension are provided while acting as a bridge between the inpatient, outpatient clinic and home infusion settings.
12. Performs marketing support functions as requested.
13. Acts as chairman of CQI Committee in monitoring and evaluating on a systematic basis the logistical components of the drug use process (e.g. profiling, dispensing and administration; IV admixture preparation; and screening for dosing contraindications, drug interactions and drug allergies), drug information activities in support of therapeutic decision making (e.g. patient counseling and elements of clinical pharmacy services) and the monitoring and surveillance of drug therapy (e.g. drug usage evaluation, adverse drug reaction reporting and medication error review).
14. Actively participates in and manages all pharmacy aspects of investigational drug studies, including protocol review, writing drug monographs, and providing drug information to members of the multidisciplinary team.
15. Works in conjunction with Rush University Medical Center's Sections of Medical Oncology, Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, the Comprehensive Cancer Center and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology to promote existing and attract new investigational studies relevant to research objectives.
16. Actively participates in the operations process from order receipt to dispensing as dictated by production requirements. Utilizes regular interaction in the operations process to refine and/or redefine flow to maximize efficiency and quality of pharmaceutical care provided.
17. Develops and oversees the orientation/training programs for new personnel and current staff. Participates in the educational activities of Technicians and serves as a preceptor to students exposing them to all aspects of pharmacy practice
18. Participates in management and inter-departmental meetings as required.
19. Attends/participates in staff meetings as required.
20. Performs within the framework of the RUMC/HDM, L.L.C. policies and procedures.

Summary:
This position works under the general direction of the Office of Research Affairs' Clinical Research Administration Division, their clinical department / division, and in partnership with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-investigator(s), other study personnel, and sponsoring agents to ensure protocols are conducted in accordance with the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) S/he will coordinate standard clinical research studies conducted by PI(s) which may include grant-funded, industry sponsored, and investigator-initiated clinical research studies. S/he will perform a variety of routine duties involving the collection, compilation, and documentation of clinical research data. Required Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of clinical research experience OR 5 years of clinical research experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and Good Documentation Practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current NIH and/or FDA regulations and guidelines related to clinical research.
• Ability to meet deadlines and help coordinate multiple aspects of the ongoing project.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Detail oriented with high attention to accuracy.
• Ability to build rapport, navigates sensitive topics, and maintains confidentiality with a diverse pool of research participants and vendors.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary team settings.
• Availability to work evenings, overnight and weekends if called for under the study protocols.
• Travel may be required.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Sciences or health-related discipline.
• Prior participant contact experience.
Responsibilities:
• Recruits, consents, screens, schedules, tracks and provides study updates to study participants throughout the conduct of the study.
• Collects and enters data into study case report forms and/or electronic data capture system and respond to queries in a timely manner.
• May submit or coordinate the submission of study related documents, study protocols and study protocol amendments to the IRB per policy and procedure
• Maintains accurate and complete procedural documentation including study participant and site level documentation in compliance with institutional, local, state and federal guidelines and regulations related to clinical research.
• May collect, process and ship potentially biohazardous specimens.
• Administers structured tests and questionnaires according to research study protocols. May utilize study-related technology and equipment as part of assessment procedures.
• Provide ongoing study status updates and responds to questions from PI, Administrator, Office of Research Affairs, Sponsor and Compliance throughout the conduct of the study
• Organize and participate in auditing and monitoring visits
• Gather and communicate unanticipated problems (protocol deviations, adverse events, and serious adverse events).
• Work with PI(s), sponsor, compliance, clinical staff and/or manager to identify and improve routine processes as it relates to the conduct of the research study
