Pediatric Hospital Medicine – Clinical Faculty

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hospital Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, is seeking a full-time BC/BE Academic Pediatric Hospitalist to join their faculty at Rush’s downtown campus in Chicago, IL.

We are looking for applicants committed to providing exceptional inpatient care to a diverse and complex population of patients. Special consideration will be given to candidates with hospitalist experience or completing a Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship.

Position Details

• Clinical Responsibilities: Provide inpatient care on the General Pediatric Unit and General Care Nursery, collaborating with medical and surgical Pediatric subspecialties
• Teaching & Education: This opportunity involves extensive teaching responsibilities with Rush's Pediatric Residency Program, Combined Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program, and Rush Medical College
• Scholarly Leadership: Expected to lead scholarly initiatives within the Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine
• Faculty Appointment: Candidates will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, commensurate with their experience and accomplishments.

Preferred Experience: Candidates with background in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:

• Quality improvement
• Clinical research
• Medical education research
• Medical simulation

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• Eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in the state of Illinois
• Completion of an accredited Pediatric residency or Med-Peds residency
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics

The Rush University Children's Hospital (RUCH) is part of the Rush University Medical Center (RUMC). It is an academic medical center that has 110 pediatric beds. RUMC is a 671-bed hospital serving adults and children in downtown Chicago, Illinois. It includes the 58- adult bed Johnston R. Bowman Health Center, Rush University and Rush Health. Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, knowledge and skills; relevant experience and training; education, certifications, and licensure; primary work location; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role, as well as additional compensation such as sign-on and retention bonuses and relocation allowances. Pay Range: $212,800 - $271,700

Primary Care Advanced Practice Provider – Rush Lincoln Park

 The Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, is seeking a dedicated Primary Care Advanced Practice Provider to join our established Primary Care team at Rush Lincoln Park.

Position Details

• Prime Location: Rush Lincoln Park is situated in one of Chicago's most desirable and family-friendly neighborhoods with excellent walkability, dining, parks, and cultural amenities
• Established Practice: Well-established primary care team with a 5 Faculty Physicians, 2 APPs, a diverse patient base and strong community presence
• High-Volume Setting: Busy, dynamic, multispecialty outpatient practice environment offering diverse clinical experiences and continuous learning opportunities
• Collaborative Culture: Integrated healthcare team model with experienced Family Medicine physicians providing mentorship and support
• Hours of Operation: Monday – Thursday, 7AM – 6PM, Friday, 7AM – 4PM, open 2 Saturdays per month, closed on Sundays

Key Responsibilities

• Function in a dyad model alongside primary care Family Physicians at our Lincoln Park location
• Provide high-quality, comprehensive acute and routine medical care to both established and new patients
• See urgent care referrals in addition to scheduled primary care visits
• Deliver patient care within the scope of practice granted in accordance with RUMC medical staff bylaws
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure cost-effective, quality patient outcomes
• Exemplify Rush's mission, vision, and values in all patient interactions and professional activities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Applicants with two (2) years of Advanced Practice Provider experience in Primary Care are preferred.
• Preference for candidates who can practice independently with minimal supervision
• Experience providing culturally competent care to LGBTQ+ patients strongly preferred

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP)is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the Rush University Medical Center medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

Rush has over 400 APPs across the enterprise that provide comprehensive patient care each day autonomously and in collaboration with other members of the health care team. With a Director of Advanced Practice and 34 Lead APPs across the system, Rush’s vision is to have every APP practicing at full scope and top of license. APPs at Rush are highly competent, well-respected members of the healthcare team that contribute to the excellent quality care that Rush patients receive each day.

General Requirements for Primary Care Advanced Practice Providers:

Nurse Practitioner:

• Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse
• Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
• Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
• Maintains State of Illinois and Federal DEA license
• Must maintain Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), Rush Oak Park Hospital (ROPH), and Rush Copley Medical Center (RCMC) clinical privileges, as applicable.
• CPR, ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Excellent communicator
• Experience treating patients of all ages
• Procedural experience (simple laceration repair, I&D)

Physician Assistant:

• Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate
• Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
• Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
• Must maintain Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), Rush Oak Park Hospital (ROPH), and Rush Copley Medical Center (RCMC) clinical privileges, as applicable
• Excellent communicator
• Experience treating patients of all ages
• Procedural experience (simple laceration repair, I&D)

Pay Range: $129,450 - $182,000
