      Summary:
      The Respiratory Therapist Assistant (RTA I) performs a variety of clinical and environmental tasks under the direction of the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The RTA I duties are of a technical nature requiring specialized training and skill. The training and skill level of the RTA I is commensurate with their advancement through an accredited school of respiratory care. The RTA I is registered in an accredited school of respiratory care and has completed at least two semesters of training. The RTA I demonstrates the ability to care for adults in the clinical setting following appropriate competency training. The RTA I will exemplify the Rush mission, values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

      Knowledge RTA I:
      1.Current enrollment in an accredited school of respiratory care and completed at least 2 semesters with passing grades in all courses upon hire and on an annual basis.
      2.Completed fundamental clinical competencies associated with routine floor and ICU care.
      Physical Demands:
      •Work requires the ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift.
      •Work requires lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs. and supporting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300 lbs.

      Summary:
      In conjunction with the Senior Associate General Counsel and members of the Office of Risk and Claims Management (ORCM), this position is responsible for assisting in the oversight and management of professional and general liability suits and claims for Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) and Rush Oak Park Hospital (ROPH), as well as oversight of the TPA for all OCIP-related claims.       Responsibilities:
      LITIGATION AND CLAIMS MANAGEMENT

      • Assists in maintaining all litigation and claims data in the Risk Management Information System (RIMS).
      • Daily maintenance and responsibility of claims files, including conducting independent evaluations of claims, communicating with outside counsel and insureds, and assisting with pre-suit investigations.
      • Verifies employment status and current whereabouts of defendants or potential defendants.
      • In conjunction with outside counsel, executes a detailed review and analysis of the plaintiff’s medical records.

      • Reports required information in MMSEA processing software within the assigned 7-day reporting time period for each quarter. Maintains paper copies of final “as reported” file data and submission receipt and obtains/maintains copies of MMSEA data submission fields, beneficiary Query response, and CMS submission confirmation for file pursuant to the Office of Risk Management Closed File Policy.
      • Updates Required Reporting Entity (RRE) password on the Section 111 Secure Website in accordance with website regulations (every 60 days) and maintain both electronic and paper record of such information.
      • Coordinates yearly update of RRE Profile Report, review accuracy of profile information, arrange for signature by RUMC “Authorized Representative” and submit to EDI representative. Maintains paper and electronic file copies of submitted yearly Profile Reports and confirmation of receipt by EDI representative.
      • Coordinates Medicare Secondary Recovery Reporting Portal (MSPRP) requests for conditional and final payoff letters in situations where settlement with pro se Medicare Beneficiary occurs.
      • Tracks legal and regulatory developments pertaining to Section 111 Reporting and Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Portal.

      Job Summary: 

      The ambulatory pharmacy technician position will work closely with ambulatory clinical pharmacy specialists to assist with improving patient care and outcomes.       Summary:
      Manages the technical, financial, regulatory, accreditation, administrative and overall operation of the laboratory. This position requires teamwork to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to clients and patients. Demonstrates proficiency in identifying and resolving process issues that affect the laboratory's ability to perform laboratory testing. The Laboratory Manager works closely with the Associate Vice President, Chairman of Pathology, Quality Director, Administrative Director, Laboratory Directors, Laboratory Managers and supervisory staff. This position provides back-up for and acts as the Administrative Director in the Administrative Director's absence. For Point of Care Testing, works closely with Ambulatory and Inpatient Nursing Leadership and POCT testing personnel at the System Level.       Responsibilities:
      Technical
      •Remains current in the technical advances, methodologies, and any new tests within the scope of their laboratory
      •Oversees direct support for testing personnel including all human resource management and day to day operations
      •Maintains proficiency in all of the medical center's computer applications.
      Financial
      •Oversees the financial aspects of the laboratory, including coordinating and preparing the capital and operational budgets
      •Monitors and investigates monthly budget variances
      •Prepares and reports internal and peer comparison financial and performance indicators
      •Maintains the charge description master (CDM)
      •Collaborates closely with the Laboratory Directors and Supervisors on current and future financial challenges
      •Works closely with Finance to ensure that the proper billing, accounting, auditing, CPT coding, Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures and protocols are followed
      •Meets with vendors to negotiate contracts for services and supplies
      •Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of the contractual language negotiated in these contracts
      Regulatory/Accreditation
      •Ensures any identified regulatory or accreditation deficiencies are corrected in a timely and accurate manner
      •Accountable for the preparation and maintenance of inspection readiness at all times
      •Ensures all accreditation and regulatory standards are met
      Administrative
      •Provides guidance and oversight to ensure consistency across all the laboratories in hiring practices, compensation, promotions and disciplinary actions
      •Represents the Department of Pathology/Rush Medical Laboratories on any RUMC, Rush Health, Rush System for Health or other appropriate committee, sub-committee or task force
      •May be asked to serve as an instructor of Rush University
      •May be asked to prepare and give lectures to the medical laboratory science students and/or pathology residents
      •Maintains availability to mentor and advise students on specific projects or assignments
      Operations
      •Ensures smooth operation of the laboratory's testing, reporting and billing for the RUMC in- and outpatients and outreach clients.

    • Coordinates yearly update of RRE Profile Report, review accuracy of profile information, arrange for signature by RUMC “Authorized Representative” and submit to EDI representative. Maintains paper and electronic file copies of submitted yearly Profile Reports and confirmation of receipt by EDI representative.
    • Coordinates Medicare Secondary Recovery Reporting Portal (MSPRP) requests for conditional and final payoff letters in situations where settlement with pro se Medicare Beneficiary occurs.

The RN 2 continues to consult with other members of the health care team when the need for assistance is identified.     Qualifications Knowledge:
    1.Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required.
    2.Maintain current BLS certification.
    3.Earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher (except RN1s hired and already working at Rush University Medical Center before October, 2012). All transfers from other Rush entities must have an earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher prior to transfer into Rush University Medical Center or Rush University Medical Group.

    Summary:
    Manages the technical, financial, regulatory, accreditation, administrative and overall operation of the laboratory. This position requires teamwork to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to clients and patients. Demonstrates proficiency in identifying and resolving process issues that affect the laboratory's ability to perform laboratory testing. The Laboratory Manager works closely with the Associate Vice President, Chairman of Pathology, Quality Director, Administrative Director, Laboratory Directors, Laboratory Managers and supervisory staff. This position provides back-up for and acts as the Administrative Director in the Administrative Director's absence. For Point of Care Testing, works closely with Ambulatory and Inpatient Nursing Leadership and POCT testing personnel at the System Level.     Responsibilities:
    Technical
    •Remains current in the technical advances, methodologies, and any new tests within the scope of their laboratory
    •Oversees direct support for testing personnel including all human resource management and day to day operations
    •Maintains proficiency in all of the medical center's computer applications.
    Financial
    •Oversees the financial aspects of the laboratory, including coordinating and preparing the capital and operational budgets
    •Monitors and investigates monthly budget variances
    •Prepares and reports internal and peer comparison financial and performance indicators
    •Maintains the charge description master (CDM)
    •Collaborates closely with the Laboratory Directors and Supervisors on current and future financial challenges
    •Works closely with Finance to ensure that the proper billing, accounting, auditing, CPT coding, Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures and protocols are followed
    •Meets with vendors to negotiate contracts for services and supplies
    •Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of the contractual language negotiated in these contracts
    Regulatory/Accreditation
    •Ensures any identified regulatory or accreditation deficiencies are corrected in a timely and accurate manner
    •Accountable for the preparation and maintenance of inspection readiness at all times
    •Ensures all accreditation and regulatory standards are met
    Administrative
    •Provides guidance and oversight to ensure consistency across all the laboratories in hiring practices, compensation, promotions and disciplinary actions
    •Represents the Department of Pathology/Rush Medical Laboratories on any RUMC, Rush Health, Rush System for Health or other appropriate committee, sub-committee or task force
    •May be asked to serve as an instructor of Rush University
    •May be asked to prepare and give lectures to the medical laboratory science students and/or pathology residents
    •Maintains availability to mentor and advise students on specific projects or assignments
    Operations
    •Ensures smooth operation of the laboratory's testing, reporting and billing for the RUMC in- and outpatients and outreach clients.
    •Conducts and participates in continuing education activities
    •Conducts effective staff meetings on a regular basis
    •Provides leadership to ensure excellent customer service
    ◦Meets with customers and other departments as needed
    ◦Addresses customer's concerns in a respectful and timely manner
    ◦Works closely with the staff to ensure efficient and cost-effective service to customers
    •Works closely with the AVP, Quality Director, Chairman of Pathology, Directors, other Laboratory Managers and supervisory staff in developing, modifying and monitoring the achievement of long-range goals and objectives for the Department of Pathology/Rush Medical Laboratories.
    Process Improvement
    •Provides leadership in executing process improvement. Proficient in the use of process improvement tools (e.g. Fishbone diagrams, Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode Effect Analysis).
    •Responds to Safety Events and compliant in a timely manner. Investigates and determines if the event is a person and system issue.
    •Applies Just Culture algorithms when the event is determined to be a person issue.
    •Encourages staff to identify areas for process improvement and submit Safety Events to document unsafe situations safe situations.
    Communications
    •Communicates well, both orally and in writing.
    •Determines what information is important and what should be communicated, how, to whom, and when.
    •Practices Emotional Intelligence when communicating with others.
