As a part of the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Digestive Diseases & Nutrition, Section of Gastroenterology, this role will function Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays, and no call. The practice location will be shared between Rush University Medical Center and Rush Oak Park Hospital.

      These providers will be trained in a subspecialty of Gastroenterology including pancreas, high risk cancer screening, and motility along with seeing a panel of general GI patients.

      Pay Range: $118,670 - $167,000

      The Rush University Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine and Division of Hospital Medicine jointly seek an APP to continue their strong, collaborative relationship through joint-appointments, functional cross-training, periodic interdepartmental shift assignments, and engagement on multi-specialty process improvement activities.

      About the Department:

      • 44 attending physicians, 36 residents, and 4 fellows
      • 10 Advanced Practice Providers working seamlessly across Emergency Medicine to support efficient

      Duties & Responsibilities:

      · Primary responsibility for multiple patients at any given time in the Emergency Department Critical Decision Unit to treat ESI levels 2, 3, 4, & 5.

      · Completes and documents patient history and physical examinations into the electronic medical record system.

      · Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans, and monitor patient status

      · Prescribe medications, initiate consultations, conduct laboratory and diagnostic tests, procedures, and therapies and review the results

      · Rotate shifts including nights/weekends.

      · Collaborate with ED/Hospitalist physicians when appropriate on patient management

      · Additional moonlighting opportunities in the ER, with hospital medicine, telemedicine via the OnDemand service

      Skills/Abilities: 

      · Demonstrates competency in all areas of APRN or PA practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice based learning and improvement, and systems based practice.

      · Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.

      · Strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills.

      · Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with collaborating physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      · Applicants with 3+ years previous acute care Advanced Practice Provider experience is required.

      · APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification when doing Inpatient work.

      Position Requirements:

      Nurse Practitioner:

      • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
      • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
      • Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
      • BLS and ACLS certifications required and PALS certification preferred

      Physician Assistant:

      • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
      • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
      • Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
      • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications required

      The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

                      The selected individual will join a section of eight clinical faculty to cover outpatient and inpatient needs for the Transplant Service Line, while collaborating closely with Dr. Steven Flamm, Clinical Director of Network Development and Outreach for the Transplant Service Line and Director of Research in the Section of Hepatology, at the Rush downtown campus and the seven liver transplant outreach sites where you will assist in building strong referring relationships for the Rush Solid Organ Transplant program.

                      Qualified candidates must possess a strong commitment to patient care, resident education, and research. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in both transplant hepatology as well as gastroenterology and be eligible for faculty appointment at the assistant professor level or above. Candidates should have experience in clinical hepatology and liver transplantation, along with a strong interest and successful track record in establishing referring provider relationships for liver transplant and have a deep desire and proven expertise in growth strategies for Liver Transplant programs. An interest or experience in alcohol use disease order is also a plus. Rush was one of the first ten liver transplant centers in the United States, starting in the 1980s. Additionally, our CRNAs are relieved on-time for their slated shifts and not on a "waterfall tear-off" system
                          • Call requirements are minimal, with no in-house call requirements. Additionally, you are paid to carry your pager whilst on-call, and you are paid a call-rate if you are called in. Call-ins occur about 10% of the time.
                          • The CRNA will function as a faculty member and supervise SRNAs in the nurse anesthesia program.
                          • Provide anesthesia for a variety of cases in both inpatient and outpatient setting

                          SRNA Grant/Illinois Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program:

                          • Rush offers all SRNAs the SRNA Grant and Service Agreement. Up to one year before starting on with Rush as an CRNA, students are eligible for a grant to help pay for the cost of their education.
                          • Illinois Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program- $5,000 of loan forgiveness per year up to four years total.

                           Position Requirements:

                          • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program
                          • Current certification by Nursing Board Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetist (NBCRNA)
                          • Current licensure from the State of Illinois RN or APN License or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
                          • CPR and ACLS certifications

                          The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

                          Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, specialty; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. Additional compensation may include premium pay rates, sign-on bonuses, and relocation allowances. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.

                          Pay Range: $250,000 - $350,000
