      About the Role  

      • The Palliative Medicine Section is seeking motivated candidates to serve as a clinician-educator at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.  

      • The section is comprised of a multidisciplinary team that involves Social Workers, Advanced Practice Providers, Nurses and Medical Assistants.  

      • This position brings excellent opportunity to develop teaching skills for both graduate and undergraduate clinical skills through extensive involvement in multiple educational programs. 

      The team currently covers two main areas: inpatient consult service and outpatient clinic. The opportunity is ideal for the palliative medicine physician who is interested in an urban academic teaching hospital and working within a robust and rapidly growing interdisciplinary palliative medicine team. This position includes patient care, education and scholarly productivity. Additional highlights include: 

      • Maintain a strong focus on interdisciplinary education with learners from several fellowships and required rotation for medical residents 

      • Interface with a diverse patient population (socioeconomic, cultural, and disease processes) 

      • Serve as a core clinical faculty member for a strong ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship in a joint venture with neighboring Cook County Hospital 

      • Partner with an onsite inpatient hospice unit 

      • Participate in opportunities in workforce development, workforce resiliency research, academic research and quality improvement  

      • Provide mentorship and continuing education within the Schools of Medicine and Nursing at Rush University Medical Center

      Qualifications  

      • Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical institution 

      • Board-eligible or Board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine 

      • Valid IL medical license or ability to obtain licensure 

      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

      • Candidates with a strong interest in presenting and publishing at the regional and national level are strongly preferred

      This is a unique opportunity to build a pediatric pulmonology program at a leading academic medical center. We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader who is excited to establish and grow a comprehensive clinical and academic program in an established academic medical center. The Division Chief will build upon existing strengths and long history of high quality clinical care with the existing mature and steadfast Pediatric Pulmonary team that includes a Nurse Practitioner, 3 respiratory therapists, 2 nurses, CF social worker, and CF dietician. We are seeking a Division Chief who will develop a vision for expanding clinical services, educational programs, and research initiatives, while developing strategic interdisciplinary teams and fostering faculty development.

      Position Details

      The successful candidate will:

      • Provide strategic, innovative, and operational leadership with an entrepreneurial mindset suited to program development in an academic setting
      • Build and lead a new Pulmonology Division within the Department of Pediatrics, with responsibility for establishing clinical programs, workflows, and infrastructure
      • Recruit one additional pediatric pulmonologist to support continued growth
      • Be responsible and accountable for clinical and academic performance as the division matures including faculty mentorship
      • Demonstrate a strong record of collaborative leadership and commitment to excellence in clinical care, research, innovation, and academic service

      Qualifications

      · Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required

        •Schedule: this role will function on a rotating 10-hour schedule alongside twenty full-time Emergency Medicine Physicians and two fellow Advanced Practice Providers. Night shifts are not currently required but may be added as needed. Two weekends (four shifts) per four-week block are required.

        The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the Rush University Medical Center medical staff bylaws.         The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provider all aspects of care including acute care, well care and chronic care in the urgent care setting for patients of all ages. 

        Position Requirements: 

        Nurse Practitioner:

        Qualifications

        The Emergency Department at the Rush Urgent Care Clinic – North & Harlem and the Rush Urgent Care Clinic – River North, associated with Rush University Medical Center of Chicago and Rush Oak Park Hospital, invites applications for the position of Urgent Care Lead Advanced Practice Provider. As part of an ongoing effort to support the local community, Rush is opening urgent care clinics to provide immediate access for a wide array of low- to moderate-acuity conditions and lower-cost care.         The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the Rush University Medical Center medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.
