Summary:
The postdoc researcher will investigate the cellular mechanisms promoting atrial myopathy and atrial fibrillation. The research focuses on the role of IP3 induced calcium release, p21-activated kinase signaling in the development of atrial remodeling and atrial fibrillation. We use animal models (transgenic mice models, heart failure, inflammatory bowel disease) that develop an increased risk for atrial fibrillation. Summary:
The postdoc researcher will investigate the cellular mechanisms promoting atrial myopathy and atrial fibrillation. The research focuses on the role of IP3 induced calcium release, p21-activated kinase signaling in the development of atrial remodeling and atrial fibrillation. We use animal models (transgenic mice models, heart failure, inflammatory bowel disease) that develop an increased risk for atrial fibrillation. Experimental techniques in the laboratory include electrophysiology (patch clamp, multi electrode array, EKG, intra-cardiac catheter), calcium imaging and molecular biology approaches from the cellular to the organ level.
