      Summary:

      The clinical resource coordinator 1 (CRC 1) position applies a collaborative approach in working with pharmacists, patients, medical providers, payers and internal/external agencies to provide case management support services related to individual patients’ medication needs. CRC 1 activities and processes include referral screening, patient interviews, completion of medication access processes (e.g., prior authorizations, financial assistance programs), follow-up calls, and working within prescription processing software. CRC 1 services may be coordinated centrally through the pharmacy department or assigned by unit, physician practice, or service line.         Summary

        This Specialty Billing Representative is responsible for managing billing and accounts receivable for the specialty pharmacy service line, including transplant, oncology, cystic fibrosis, infertility, and pulmonary therapies. This role ensures accurate and timely billing across medical and pharmacy benefit plans while maintaining compliance with payer and regulatory requirements. The position verifies insurance eligibility, reviews benefits, prepares routine billing reports, and prepares and manages monthly patient and payer statements. The Specialty Billing Representative processes and follows up on claim denials, underpayments, and overpayments to ensure appropriate resolution and reimbursement, and assists the pharmacy with Medicare audit-related billing information and patient balance collections.

        Responsibilities

        • Prepares and submits medical claims weekly for Oncology, Infertility, Cystic Fibrosis, Transplant, and Pulmonary therapies.
        • Analyzes, resolves, and resubmits rejected or underpaid claims for payment.

        1. Provides professional mental health services with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment with the goal of maximizing personal or family functioning.
        2. Prepares intake summaries, treatment plans and case summaries while maintaining on-going confidential records.
        3. Develops, implements and evaluates treatment approaches for clients and affected family members, including individual, family, group or intensive therapeutic modalities.
        4. Accurately documents treatment and progress in the electronic health record (Epic) in a timely manner in accordance with state and other regulations and in keeping with the department’s policy.
        5. Confers and consults with multidisciplinary providers regarding client's progress and treatment; this may include conferring with attending physicians regarding hospitalized clients’ recommendations for treatment.
        6. Utilizes resources within the community that clients to meet the needs of the client's treatment goals. These community resources will offer options for referrals to external resources for the client and/or family members.
        7. Participates in development, implementation and evaluation of programs within the psychiatry department at Rush.
        8. Performs other duties as assigned.
