      Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of Small Bowel Center of Excellent Program Director.  

      The Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition at Rush University Medical Center is seeking leaders that are highly subspecialized in Gastroenterology, specifically in Small Bowel, to lead our Center of Excellence. Academic appointments will be in the College of Medicine at Rush University.  

      · The Small Bowel Program Director provides both clinical and managerial leadership, guiding the strategic growth of the Small Bowel program. The Director works collaboratively with the Chief, Executive Director, and Rush Medical Group stakeholders to enhance efficiencies across the institution.

      · The Small Bowel Program Director will lead Rush in establishing itself as a Center of Excellence for small bowel disorders, overseeing both clinical and managerial leadership within the healthcare setting. The Director will be responsible for identifying solutions, facilitating communication, and strategically planning the advancement of the Small Bowel and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) program.

      · Our team uses advanced technology to diagnose and treat small bowel diseases. Gastroenterology specialists collaborate with other experts to provide personalized care.

      Division Overview

      · The Digestive Diseases and Nutrition Service Line integrates clinical practice, education, and research to promote advancements in the field of gastroenterology.

      • The Digestive Diseases and Nutrition Service Line comprises 24 faculty members, including physicians, with General Gastroenterology staffed by approximately 10 full-time equivalent (FTE) faculty/physicians.
      • General GI is supported by 6 full-time Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

      · Faculty members within the service line collaborate extensively with teams in Hepatology, Oncology, and Transplant Medicine, promoting a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

      Academic Programs

      • The division hosts a robust Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship Program, contributing to clinical education and research advancement.

      Clinical Workload & Scheduling

      • A Fulltime 1.0 FTE Small Bowel Leader is scheduled for 32 hours of direct patient care and 8 hours of administrative duties weekly.

      · Physicians participate in both inpatient and outpatient care, with service and call responsibilities integrated into the role.

      • Clinical responsibilities include:
        • 5 Endoscopy blocks, each lasting 4 hours
        • 3 Clinic blocks, each lasting 4 hours
        • Clinic hours are structured as Research & Service
      • Research funding may be available based on interest and alignment with institutional priorities.

      Requirements:

      • Doctorate MD or DO degree
      • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine and/or eligible for medical licensure in Illinois
      • Board certified in Gastroenterology
      • 5-7 years or more experience in Gastroenterology – Small Bowel practice

The candidate will join the Division of Nephrology, and work within the Transplant Service Line, which is comprised of eleven Advanced Practice Providers and thirteen clinical faculty.  The selected candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership across all phases of transplant nephrology, including pre-transplant, peri-transplant, and post-transplant care, with a focus on delivering efficient, evidence-based, and guideline-driven care. This role includes ensuring full compliance with Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) regulations related to patient evaluation, ongoing care, data collection and submission, and clinical outcomes. Additionally, the physician will lead and oversee quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing care processes and outcomes throughout the transplant continuum.

        The mission of the Transplant Service Line at Rush University Medical Center is to provide superior patient care and maintain superb clinical outcomes. We work collaboratively across multiple disciplines to ensure the patients will receive true multidisciplinary care in the entire continuum of the pre-transplant, perioperative and post-transplant care.         The Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Program at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, is expanding its Interventional Movement Disorder Program which oversees the management of patients being evaluated for and receiving therapies such as Deep Brain Stimulation, infusion therapies and MRI guided focused ultrasound. We are seeking an Assistant Professor to join twelve other full-time Movement Disorders specialists to join its program focused on Patient Care, Research and Education. The Interventional Movement Disorder Program provider team is composed of three neurologists, two neurology physician assistants, one neurosurgeon and one neurosurgery nurse practitioner covering 3 campuses across the Rush University Health System. Applicants should have a clinical and research interest in the utilization of deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, and therapies for advanced disease states to join the interventional movement disorders team. Potential secondary interest(s) in one of the following: genetics, cognition, neuropsychiatric issues, physiology, imaging or basic science are encouraged. The position will be clinically focused, with opportunities for research collaboration and educational initiatives.

        Rush University holds several Centers of Excellence designations and is the largest and oldest movement disorder program in Chicagoland. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will join a larger movement disorder program, with 12 movement disorder neurologists, 3 neuropsychologists, 2 psychiatrists, and 15 clinical staff. The program also has a large clinical and translational research infrastructure, with 15 clinical research managers and coordinators.

        Qualified candidates must have completed a fellowship program and be Board Certified in Neurology. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to patient care, resident and fellow education, clinical medicine, and research. Candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher commensurate with their experience and accomplishments in Rush Medical College. This recruitment is part of a key strategic growth initiative at Rush University Medical Center.         The selected individual will join a section of eight clinical faculty to cover outpatient and inpatient needs for the Transplant Service Line, while collaborating closely with Dr. Steven Flamm, Clinical Director of Network Development and Outreach for the Transplant Service Line and Director of Research in the Section of Hepatology, at the Rush downtown campus and the seven liver transplant outreach sites where you will assist in building strong referring relationships for the Rush Solid Organ Transplant program.

        Qualified candidates must possess a strong commitment to patient care, resident education, and research. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in both transplant hepatology as well as gastroenterology and be eligible for faculty appointment at the assistant professor level or above. Candidates should have experience in clinical hepatology and liver transplantation, along with a strong interest and successful track record in establishing referring provider relationships for liver transplant and have a deep desire and proven expertise in growth strategies for Liver Transplant programs. An interest or experience in alcohol use disease order is also a plus. Rush was one of the first ten liver transplant centers in the United States, starting in the 1980s. Nearly 2,000 patients have received a liver transplant during the program’s 35-year history.         Duties & Responsibilities:

        • The CRNA will function under the medical direction of the anesthesiologist with regard to pre-anesthetic, anesthetic and post-anesthetic patient management.
        • Shifts available are 8's and 10's and your schedule can be tailored to your specific needs.          Position Requirements:

        • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program
        • Current certification by Nursing Board Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetist (NBCRNA)
        • Current licensure from the State of Illinois RN or APN License or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
        • CPR and ACLS certifications

            Duties & Responsibilities:

            • The CRNA will function under the medical direction of the anesthesiologist with regard to pre-anesthetic, anesthetic and post-anesthetic patient management.
            • Shifts available are 8's, 10's, and 12's, and your schedule can be tailored to your specific needs. This benefit is highly beneficial and unique, facilitating your lifestyle away from the operating room. Additionally, our CRNAs are relieved on-time for their slated shifts and not on a "waterfall tear-off" system
            • Call requirements are minimal, with no in-house call requirements. Additionally, you are paid to carry your pager whilst on-call, and you are paid a call-rate if you are called in. Call-ins occur about 10% of the time.
            • The CRNA will function as a faculty member and supervise SRNAs in the nurse anesthesia program.
            • Provide anesthesia for a variety of cases in both inpatient and outpatient setting

            SRNA Grant/Illinois Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program:

             Position Requirements:

            • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program

              The Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Program at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, is expanding its Interventional Movement Disorder Program which oversees the management of patients being evaluated for and receiving therapies such as Deep Brain Stimulation, infusion therapies and MRI guided focused ultrasound. We are seeking an Assistant Professor to join twelve other full-time Movement Disorders specialists to join its program focused on Patient Care, Research and Education. The Interventional Movement Disorder Program provider team is composed of three neurologists, two neurology physician assistants, one neurosurgeon and one neurosurgery nurse practitioner covering 3 campuses across the Rush University Health System. Applicants should have a clinical and research interest in the utilization of deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, and therapies for advanced disease states to join the interventional movement disorders team. Potential secondary interest(s) in one of the following: genetics, cognition, neuropsychiatric issues, physiology, imaging or basic science are encouraged. The position will be clinically focused, with opportunities for research collaboration and educational initiatives.

              Rush University holds several Centers of Excellence designations and is the largest and oldest movement disorder program in Chicagoland. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will join a larger movement disorder program, with 12 movement disorder neurologists, 3 neuropsychologists, 2 psychiatrists, and 15 clinical staff. The program also has a large clinical and translational research infrastructure, with 15 clinical research managers and coordinators.

              Qualified candidates must have completed a fellowship program and be Board Certified in Neurology.               Qualifications:

              Certification: Board certified or eligible in Hematology

                  • Call requirements are minimal, with no in-house call requirements. Additionally, you are paid to carry your pager whilst on-call, and you are paid a call-rate if you are called in. Call-ins occur about 10% of the time.
                  • The CRNA will function as a faculty member and supervise SRNAs in the nurse anesthesia program.
                  • Provide anesthesia for a variety of cases in both inpatient and outpatient setting
