      Responsibilities:
      1.Accurately post insurance and patient payments received by mail and lockbox. This would include but is not limited to assigning batches to users via banking application, sorting received mail, agency checks, and separating zero paid EOB’s and rejections. User must ensure that batches created in EPIC have accuracy focused on deposit date, appropriate payment code, payer, allowed amounts and remit codes when applicable. Ensure that all cash activity is properly entered into daily Cash Report for distribution to the Cashiers Office.
      2.Ensure all commercial electronic 835 remittance files sent by our HB or PB clearinghouses are delivered to our internal RUSH FTP server for processing. Users must also work on ensuring all the necessary reconciliation & balancing is intact for all incoming remittance checks tied to each 835 payer file. Using the current RUSH approved banking applications is significant for this task. The E-remit process also entails managing other payers such as Medicare, BCBS, IL Medicaid along with all necessary reconciliation & balancing practices. Daily use of EPIC remittance application such as Create/Load Runs, Process Runs, Accept, and reconcile all daily electronic remittances files with the correct deposit dates and all necessary corrections as needed.
      3.Research unmatched payments and reduce the clearing accounts to ensure payments are transferred to the correct HAR or entity resulting in a reduction of the A/R in a timely manner. Identify payments intended for other entities such as RUMG, RUMC, ROPH, ROPPG or other private physicians. Ensure accurate application of payments to designated clearing accounts is needed. Reprocess insurance payments that may need to be redistributed to the correct destination.
      4.Produce Enterprise & PB/HB Payment Posting reports as needed for processed batches both for lockbox posting, On-Base or other assigned posting task. Update the following daily reports such as: Lockbox Daily reports, Checks and Payment Tech report, Lockbox Totals Only reports. Administer all other non-EPIC related applications such as multiple banking vendor financial applications in addition to EDI, ACH and ERA clearinghouses and websites.
      5.Track lost or misdirected payments by making phone calls to insurance payers, internal RUSH departments or patients. This daily function will also involve investigation and resolution with General Accounting or with other Revenue Cycle departments
      6.Auditing work to determine if payments are being applied accurately and corresponding remittance actions and GL transactions are correct.
      7.Other related duties as assigned.

      Summary:
      The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting Physicians, Mid-Level Practitioners, and Registered Nurses with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients in an ambulatory care setting.     2.Ensure all commercial electronic 835 remittance files sent by our HB or PB clearinghouses are delivered to our internal RUSH FTP server for processing. Users must also work on ensuring all the necessary reconciliation & balancing is intact for all incoming remittance checks tied to each 835 payer file. Using the current RUSH approved banking applications is significant for this task. The E-remit process also entails managing other payers such as Medicare, BCBS, IL Medicaid along with all necessary reconciliation & balancing practices. Daily use of EPIC remittance application such as Create/Load Runs, Process Runs, Accept, and reconcile all daily electronic remittances files with the correct deposit dates and all necessary corrections as needed.
    3.Research unmatched payments and reduce the clearing accounts to ensure payments are transferred to the correct HAR or entity resulting in a reduction of the A/R in a timely manner. Identify payments intended for other entities such as RUMG, RUMC, ROPH, ROPPG or other private physicians. Ensure accurate application of payments to designated clearing accounts is needed. Reprocess insurance payments that may need to be redistributed to the correct destination.
    4.Produce Enterprise & PB/HB Payment Posting reports as needed for processed batches both for lockbox posting, On-Base or other assigned posting task. Update the following daily reports such as: Lockbox Daily reports, Checks and Payment Tech report, Lockbox Totals Only reports. Administer all other non-EPIC related applications such as multiple banking vendor financial applications in addition to EDI, ACH and ERA clearinghouses and websites.
    5.Track lost or misdirected payments by making phone calls to insurance payers, internal RUSH departments or patients. This daily function will also involve investigation and resolution with General Accounting or with other Revenue Cycle departments
    6.Auditing work to determine if payments are being applied accurately and corresponding remittance actions and GL transactions are correct.

    1.Has a specialized knowledge, education and experience in the fields of human behavior, psychology and problem solving. They will be responsible for managing complex patient caseloads.

    8.Ensuring communication and understanding about post-hospital care among patient, family and health care team members.
    9.Advocating for patient and family needs and facilitating referrals for continuity of care.
    10.Documents all activities in a comprehensive, appropriate manner.
    11.Referral to legal services.
    12.Facilitating support groups if appropriate.
    13.Provides leadership, support and clinical expertise within Care Management teams to achieve outcomes.
    14.Functions as a role model within the team. Demonstrates ownership of the person centered plan, complex psychosocial issues and anticipated outcomes. Provides proactive planning, coordinated transition plans, and implements readmission avoidance strategies. Serves as a resource to physicians, nurses, peers and CM staff in managing complex cases and resolving issues.
    15.Provides leadership and facilitates communication within the inpatient and cross continuum teams to assure effective sustainable care transitions from hospital to home, within community care settings, and/or to supplement care for high risk patients.
    16.Supports team education and training functions related to complex psychosocial issues and transitions in care coordination. Conducts education for staff including care managers, liaisons, nurses, physicians and allied health professionals, as requested.
    17.Implements effective communication between inpatient units, care management team, physicians, nurses, pharmacy, persons/families, Health & Aging, and external providers.
    18.Coordinates interdisciplinary conferences, serves on committees and leads work groups to address psychosocial/care coordination issues. Effectively responds to Abuse & Neglect calls.
    19.Models and maintains a quality based proactive person centered approach to achieve department and institutional goals and process improvements.
    20.Models a person centered approach to support to the treatment team, person/family directed plans and engagement. Supports customer satisfaction among persons, families, physicians, external case managers, payers, vendors, and inpatient staff.
    21.Participates in research to evaluate project initiatives.
    22.Applies evidenced based practice.

    Summary:
    The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting Physicians, Mid-Level Practitioners, and Registered Nurses with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients in an ambulatory care setting. The Medical Assistant assumes responsibility for maintaining patient flow, the upkeep of exam and treatment rooms, and performing basic skills such as vital signs and point of care testing. In addition, the Certified Medical Assistant will administer intramuscular injections, immunizations, small volume nebulizer treatment, over-the-counter medications under the direction of a Physician. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures, including complying with all Rush University Medical Group Customer Service Standards.

    Required Job Qualifications:
    •High school diploma/GED required.
    •Clinical Medical Assistant Certification by AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NAHP, AAH, or NHA required (includes principles and techniques of injections and medication administration) required upon hire.
    •Graduates of a Rush Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program are required to obtain Clinical Medical Assistant Certification by AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NAHP, AAH, or NHA required within six months of hire.
    •Current CPR certification required upon start date.
    •Computer skills.
    •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    •Excellent customer service skills.
    •Excellent organizational skills.
    Preferred Job Qualifications:
    •One year clinical experience.
    •Phlebotomy experience.
    •Epic Ambulatory experience.

    Responsibilities:
    1.Coordinates and maintains organized patient flow.
    2.Performs patient intake: vital signs, height and weight, reason for visit, interim history, allergies, medication lists, and other interventions as required.
    3.Prepares patient for exam based on reason for visit.
    4.Prepares and supports patient and assists provider with procedures.
    5.Reviews appointment schedules and ensures all patient charts are available for the visit.
    6.Reviews patient charts and ensures that all ancillary reports and required paperwork are available to the provider at the time of visit.
    7.Performs basic lab and testing procedures according to standards.
    8.Performs phlebotomy and EKGs.
    9.Administers immunizations as ordered by Physician.
    10.Administers RUMG approved intramuscular or subcutaneous medications after competency has been assessed, verified and documented.
    11.Performs nebulizer treatments in the clinic setting after competency has been assessed, verified and documented.
    12.Performs Tuberculin skin testing upon the order of the Physician.
    13.Demonstrates appropriate population specific techniques with patients.
    14.Documents administration of over-the-counter medications and/or other medications in Epic per policy or protocol.
    15.Cleans, prepares and stocks exam rooms, treatment rooms, and workstations.
    16.Calls patients regarding test results and medical instruction under the direction of a Physician.
    17.Calls in medication refills under the direction of a Physician or protocol.
    18.Documents patient care information in the outpatient medical record according to standards.
    19.Assists with scheduling of patient tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
    20.Assists in the care, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and instruments.
    21.Maintains the inventory of medical and linen supplies.
    22.Maintains quality control for equipment.
    23.Provides cross coverage to other clinical areas as assigned.
    24.Participates in quality improvement projects.
    25.Maintains compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and other regulatory bodies.
    26.May have Unit specific duties as needed.
