The IR Technologist 2 primary responsibilities will be in the area of medical instrumentation operation, use of permanent fluoroscopic and digital x-ray systems, operation of CT and Combined CT fluoroscopic systems, ultrasounds and other diagnostic and therapeutic devices. The IR Tech 2 will demonstrate understanding and basic knowledge of all imaging equipment with the ability to independently operate all imaging equipment. The IR Tech 2 will independently post-process images. This role will provide fluoroscopic and CT Imaging for the broad patient population applying protocols defined by the organization’s Radiologists. This role will produce images that meet the quality expectations of the department. The technologist skills and knowledge will be utilized in a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures. Job Components
• Fulfills all the job components for testing personnel whom they will supervisor; These may be an MLS, MLT, CT, HT, HTL, or other role(s), laboratory areas aligning to the credentials listed below.
Policy Compliance
• Understands and enforces departmental and institutional policies and practices.
•Writes, reviews, and updates departmental policies and procedures as mandated by accrediting or regulatory standards.
Workflow monitoring
•Monitors, regulates, and adjusts workflows to ensure needed tasks are completed on time.
•Demonstrates ability to recognize quality control values and respond appropriately to outliers, be a technical resource person, recognize instrument/ assay problems, and maintain technical proficiency.
•Responds to clinician inquiries timely, thoroughly, and respectfully.
Process Improvement
•Recognizes situations that require process improvement.
• Proficient in the use of process improvement tools (e.g. Fishbone diagrams, Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode Effect Analysis).
•Responds to Safety Events and complaints in a timely manner. Investigates and determines if the event is a person or system issue.
•Applies Just Culture algorithms when the event is determined to be a person issue. Encourages staff to identify areas for process improvement and submit Safety Events to document unsafe situations.
Financial and Administrative – will be responsible for any combination of the following;
•Monitors expenses and assists in the investigation of budget variance reports.
•Provides input on the capital and operational budgets; gathers and analyzes data to produce needed information.
•Writes reports and memos.
•Prepares and conducts staff meetings.
•Orders and maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
•Writes and conducts employee evaluations at least twice a year; more frequently if needed.
•Prepares staff schedules to minimize the use of over-time and staff burnout.
•Oversees validation and implementation of new equipment.
•Conducts employee discipline with managerial oversight.
•Participates in the development of Employee Engagement initiatives.
•Implements Employee Engagement initiatives.
•Conducts employment interviews and participates in the selection of new employees.
•Ensures the work area is maintained in a safe and uncluttered environment.
•Serves as a backup for the manager in their absence.
•Maintains inspection readiness.

Pay Range: $38.02 - $55.18 per hour

Summary:
Provides oversight of the technical operations within the area of responsibility (Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Histology). Ensures the competency of staff that provide clinical testing and timeliness of results. Mentors staff to cooperatively work with nursing and physicians to provide what is needed to care for patients effectively, efficiently and as quickly as possible Serves as an expert within the assigned field of responsibility. Instruct students, residents, and new employees. Evaluates their performance within established deadlines. Participates in presenting case studies or in-services. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or higher
education/work experience meeting the qualifications of moderate and/or high complexity Testing Personnel, Technical Consultant, Technical Supervisor or General Supervisor as defined by CLIA 42 CFR Part 493 Subpart M.
Certification from a nationally recognized certifying agency required. ASCP (or equivalent) certified preferred. Some laboratory disciplines may require more stringent certification criteria.

•Medical Technologist (MT) via the American Medical Technologists (AMT)

•Cytotechnologist (CT) via the ASCP
•Hematology (H) via the ASCP

•Specialty in Cytometry (SCYM) via the ASCP
•Histology Technologist (HTL)
Recent quality and technical coordinator experience preferred.
Familiar with regulatory requirements for laboratories.
Proven organizational, interpersonal and communication skills highly desired.
Histology
•Registered Histology Technician HT (ASCP) or have completed an accredited histology program with minimum of 5 years of experience coupled with recent leadership experience.
•Successful passing of the HT (ASCP) certification exam.
•Or education/work experience meeting the qualifications of moderate or high complexity testing personnel as defined by CLIA 42 CFR Part 493 Subpart M.
•Familiar with regulatory requirements for laboratories.
•Proven organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Administrative and Advanced Technical Duties
•Functions as a department expert and performs as a bench testing personnel member along with the duties outlined below.
•Sit and engage in interviews for applicants for open positions.
•Establishes a detailed orientation and training program for new staff within their area of expertise
•Held responsible for the complete and adequate training of new staff within their area of expertise
•Stay engaged with new staff to determine knowledge gaps or struggles.
•Monitors KPIs and TAT and initiates troubleshooting measures for respective areas when applicable
•Mentor staff on continuous improvement of their performance and empowerment to make decisions with a patient focus.
•Provides continuing education opportunities to augment staff competency.
•Participates or initiates Quality Improvement initiatives. Gathers and analyzes data, then shares action plan for improvements. Responsible for changes within agreed upon timeline.
•Responsible for completion and sign off of the initial training checklist, 6-month competency and annual competency of all technologist staff.
•Ensures that all safety procedures are followed.
•Audits staff performance to ensure proper interaction with other team members and nursing staff based on hospital and department standards.
•Holds a monthly meeting with respective staff members
•Hold meetings with the lab director
•Enforces the use of departmental communication logs and shift to shift hand offs.
•Conscious of supply usage, monitors waste and makes recommendations for use of newer or less expensive products.
•Responds to physician and patient complaints with professionalism and in a timely manner.
•Handles and addresses non-conformity and Safety Events (TRIPSS) using SBAR in a respectful and timely manner
•Maintains accurate and up-to-date procedure manuals in all areas.
•Participates in the readiness for regulatory inspections.
•Addresses all teamwork issues quickly and professionally.
•Attends organizational meetings and is engaged and participates in the discussion.
•Makes certain that new or modified procedures are read and signed off within 30 days.
•Models telephone etiquette and holds staff accountable for professionalism, courtesy, helpfulness and proper tone.
•Responsible for a clean and organized work area.
•Reads and responds to emails in a timely fashion.
•Is available to staff off-hours via phone, in person or electronically for technical related duties
•Participates in test method selection for clinical testing.
•Responsible to new test validation, including accuracy and precision.
•Ensures participation in approved proficiency testing.
•Establishes and maintains the necessary Quality Control and review, including establishing parameters for acceptable performance and performing necessary review of data to ensure quality testing. Ensuring that all values are reviewed by Lab Director before accepting.
•Resolves technical issues as appropriate and teaches troubleshooting techniques to other staff. Keeps maintenance records up to date..
•Undertakes the competency assessment of staff working in their area.

Summary:
This entry level position in the laboratory research family is responsible for helping basic science and/or clinical (biological) scientists conduct laboratory tests and experiments. Performing basic scientific tests, experiments, and analyses while working under the direction of a Principal Investigator (PI) and more senior lab staff. • 6 months of laboratory experience.
• Familiarity with traditional laboratory instruments and basic knowledge of basic experimental design.

• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities:
• Assist in collection and processing of clinical and preclinical bio specimens, such as blood, food, and bacteria cultures, for laboratory analysis.
• Set up, maintain, and clean laboratory instruments and equipment, such as microscopes, scales, and test tubes.
• May prepare common buffers and reagents.
• May perform immunohistochemical study using standard methods.
• May run gene expression assays (PCR & qPCR).
• May perform proteomic, immunoblotting and immunoassays when necessary.
• Maintain inventory for experimental specimens and enter study information including methods and results into computer databases.
• Maintain and submit primary and summary documentation of laboratory work to principal investigator of designee.
• Develop sufficient understanding of the underlying theoretical concepts involved in the testing to be able to ascertain problems in the testing or in the research design and immediately discuss them with the PI.
• May periodically be called upon to research or abstract to a limited extent relevant literature about new or known technical procedures or research protocols.
• Assist research staff to conduct basic laboratory tests and procedures for a limited number of ongoing research studies.
• Operate traditional laboratory instruments and automated equipment to conduct experiments.
• Use computer software to collect and analyze experimental data.
• Follow good laboratory safety practices and comply with safety protocols.
• Document work including equipment settings, procedures, and results according to lab protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.
