      Rush University System for Health, a national leader in outstanding patient care, education, research, community partnerships and empowering a new generation of health care providers, invites applications for the position of Primary Care Advanced Practice Provider, at our new North & Harlem Outpatient Center in Chicago. This provider will take over and maintain a panel of patients for all acute, chronic and health maintenance needs.

       

      Department/division specs

      • Practice alongside 10 primary care physicians and one fellow primary care APP
      • Primarily Family Medicine Practice seeing all ages
      • Strong access to a robust specialty referral network in the building and region

       

      Duties & Responsibilities

      • 36 patient-facing hours and four admin hours/week
      • Monday-Friday with 8-, 10- or 12-hour shift flexibility
      • Hours to include a combination of two early or two late clinics (or combo) per week
      • Up to two Saturday morning clinics/month (provider choice)
      • 4 weeks of phone-based call per year
      • 100% outpatient

       

      Preferred Qualifications:

      · Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in primary care setting is preferred, not required. Relevant RN experience may be considered.

      Position Requirements:

      Nurse Practitioner:

      • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
      • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
      • Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
      • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications

      Physician Assistant:

      • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
      • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
      • Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

      Rush North & Harlem is significantly expanding access to Rush primary and specialty care for northwest Chicago and suburban patients in near west communities like Oak Park, River Forest and Elmwood Park, by offering some of the most sought-after healthcare services — including nationally ranked specialties like neurology and cardiology. The new center is another example of how Rush is working to deliver the best care and outcomes across the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana.

      The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

      Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role.         Responsibilities:
        1.Delivers operational performance by executing on Rush’s and regulatory agencies' standards and programs. Continually monitors operations for areas of improvement, completes assessments, and develops necessary action plans to provide optimal food and nutrition services to patients, employees, and clients.
        2.Plans, organizes, and manages the resources and activities at ROPH to accomplish the strategic plan consistent with the RUSH mission, vision, and values.
        3.Assures that both the food and nutritional needs of patients are provided for and
        effectively evaluated utilizing appropriate software to obtain menu selection, streamline production, and analyze the nutrient content of the patient menu.
        4.In collaboration with the AVP/Sr. The director develops an Emergency Preparedness plan to ensure a safe food supply during an emergency crisis.
        5.In collaboration with the AVP/Sr. The director develops unit budgets, allocating resources to assure optimum operational functions, identifying capital needs for effective and efficient operation. Monitor the financials monthly to achieve budget goals. Submits monthly report variances and action plans to AVP for improvement.
        6.Define staffing needs (number of team members and specific competencies) for accomplishing the defined objectives and meeting the responsibilities of the department. Oversees the HR functions (hiring, onboarding, staff development, and completion of performance appraisal, etc.) consistent with Rush’s diversity program.
        7. Maintains appropriate liaison with other medical center departments. Fosters intradepartmental and interdepartmental communication through participation in regular meetings, town hall, and staff meetings.
        8. Develops and implements concepts for assigned retail units.

        Summary:

        •Bachelor's degree in laboratory science, biological science, chemistry, or education/work experience meeting the qualifications of high complexity testing personnel as defined by CLIA 42 CFR 493 1489.Additionally, must have certification, and a minimum of 24 contiguous months of high- complexity clinical laboratory experience required. In lieu of a Bachelors, then an Associate’s degree and/or education/work experience meeting the qualifications of high complexity testing personnel as defined by CLIA 42 CFR 493 1489 must be provided; and with MLT or other certification; and 7 contiguous years of high-complexity clinical laboratory

        •Able to work in fast pace, often stressful, computerized environment. Able to lift 20 lbs and perform repetitive motions. Works in laboratory with exposure to potentially infectious and hazardous materials.

        Responsibilities:
        • Demonstrates proficiency in all duties as defined in the role of Medical Technologist I.
        •Demonstrates proficiency in identifying and resolving process issues that affect the laboratory's ability to perform laboratory testing.
        •Acts as a resource for identifying and solving quality control issues and escalating these when appropriate.
        •Demonstrates troubleshooting proficiency and therefore rarely needs to seek additional help.
        •Required to prepare and present a minimum of 15 minutes of continuing education within the department.
        •Required to identify and participate in process improvement projects.
        •Utilizes required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as defined by the lab area. Labels and processes specimens properly. Performs all laboratory procedures efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision once trained. All testing must be done following Rush-approved Policies and Procedures. Acts as a technical resource for the testing area.
        •Performs required quality control (QC) procedures and preventative maintenance, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation. Recognizes QC problems or discrepancies and attempts to determine the cause of the problem. Notifies the appropriate supervisor or designee regarding QC problems or discrepancies according to the established procedure. Acts as a resource for identifying and solving quality control issues and escalating these when appropriate.
        •Performs basic and advanced troubleshooting of equipment and processes with minimal assistance, documents action and notifies appropriate personnel, for example, supervisors, of problems all the time. Demonstrates troubleshooting proficiency and therefore rarely needs to seek additional help.
        •Keeps work area neat, clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times. Disinfect area at the beginning and end of each shift.
        •Accepts no inappropriate specimens. Notifies the appropriate person of specimens that must be drawn or collected again and documents the notification.
        •Utilizes time effectively and seeks out additional job duties when shift tasks are complete. Completes work without incurring overtime. Assists fellow workers in finishing shift tasks. Adheres to the defined allotted time for breaks and lunch.
        •Required to obtain and document 12 hours of laboratory continuing education per year. Required to prepare and present a minimum of 15 minutes of continuing education within the department.
        •Accepts and/or volunteers for method evaluations and new procedure development or other special projects and completes them within an agreed-upon time frame. Participates in procedure implementation and training of new staff and students.
        •Required to perform the duties of the tech-in-charge for specified periods. Oversees operations according to departmental guidelines. Understands when to defer issues to appropriate personnel, for example, a supervisor or director, and does so.
        •Reviews lab results as required and takes appropriate action before verification and release. Recognizes and calls critical results within defined time frames. Reviews paper-generated results and transcribes them accurately into the Lab Information System.

        Required Job Qualifications:
        1.Minimum of 9 months of experience in nursing
        2.Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) .
        3.Within 1 year from the date of hire, employee must be enrolled in a BSN program.
        4.RNs hired prior to 10/22/2020 are grandfathered in with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or diploma in nursing, with no further need to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BAN or BSN).
        5.Chief Nursing Officer must provide approval for any RNs with ADN degree hired after 10/22/2020, based upon unit need. ADN RNs hired after 10/22/2020 must show continued enrolment towards a BSN degree with a signature of contract stipulating a BSN degree must be completed within 3 years of hire. ADN RNS are not eligible for leveling to RN3.
        6. Prior to leveling to RN2, RN must show consistent proficient performance at RN1 position or equivalent experience.
        7. Current state of Illinois Registered Nursing License
        8. CPR
        9. ACLS for ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg (6west), Endoscopy, PACU, IR, and ED required within 3 months of hire
