      Summary:
      The RUSH Access Center Specialist I manages all clinical and non-clinical calls and performs clinic activities including routine and advanced scheduling, basic triage, message taking, and referral management.       Responsibilities:
      1.Answers all telephone calls within your work assignment as designated by your leadership with the goals of accurately scheduling patients as determined by departmental and Epic guidelines.

This includes but is not limited to discussing the patient’s financial responsibility for their upcoming visit, outstanding balances, and referral requirements based on Rush contracts.
      10.Effectively completes point of service collections over the phone using secure payment processing systems via multiple payment options, such as credit/debit cards and/or payment plans.
      11.Maintains a high level of understanding and acts as a patient resource for physician and ancillary service offerings, navigating the Rush campus, payment categories, and the billing procedures of Rush University.

This inpatient role will support OR activity, post-operative patient care, inpatient chemotherapy, inpatient rounding and quality initiatives for Gynecologic Oncology patients.

The partnership represents advanced clinical and operational integration in the delivery of cancer care, providing Rush patients greater access to cancer treatments and research considered among the best in the world.

      At RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center, our expert team is trained to treat complex gynecologic cancers - including cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine and endometrial cancer, vaginal cancer and vulvar cancer - using some of the latest and personalized treatment options. A patient’s care may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapies or a combination of treatments. Our team of providers works closely together to provide expert, compassionate treatment focused on what matters most to patients.

      • Practice alongside six Gynecologic Oncologists and one fellow inpatient APP
      • Collaborate with four Gynecologic Oncology APPs working in the outpatient setting

        Required Qualifications

        • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, DHA, DBA, or equivalent) or equivalent experience in Health Services Research, Health Policy, Public Health, Business/Health Administration, Health Systems Management, or a related field. Credentials supporting appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank
        • 10–12 years of progressive healthcare management and leadership experience

                1. Executes a thorough patient evaluation, obtaining and interpreting data necessary to support a physical therapy diagnosis.

                Summary:
                The Pre- Authorization Specialist Lead is responsible for obtaining and resolving referral, precertification, and/or prior authorization to support insurance specific plan requirements for all commercial, government and other payors across hospital (inpatient & outpatient), ED, and clinic/ambulatory environments. In addition, the Pre- Authorization Specialist II may be responsible for pre-appointment registration and insurance review to maximize the submission of a clean claim. The Pre- Authorization Specialist Lead is proficient in working in a multitude of WQs outside their assigned ones. Responsible for orientation of any new staff. The Pre-Authorization Specialist Lead is responsible for assisting management with the daily operational duties and reports. Execution of these activities must be in compliance with insurance requirements and in co-ordination with the patient, ordering physician and service area.                 Responsibilities:

                • Collects and properly records demographic and insurance information required to properly address the customers' financial issues. Verifies patient’s eligibility from resources provided by third party payers and portals and other on lines services.
                • Collects and analyzes demographic, insurance and other information from patients, guarantors and all other sources to accurately obtain authorization for scheduled procedure.
                • Oversees the department’s preceptors for new hire Orientation by assisting the supervisors in monitoring the new hire’s ability to perform the SOW of their job. Acts as a resource to new and current staff by answering questions, assistance of daily job functions and corrections of errors
                • Assists management with daily operational duties, reports and conducting daily huddles.
                • Analyze department dash boards and daily/weekly reports.
                • Identify problem areas with prioritizing daily work, be able to escalate concern to supervisors, to ensure that all areas accounts are completed by end of day.
                • Initiate service recovery for patient complaints when required and escalate to supervisor as needed.
                • Acts as a first point of contact for Admissions Registration Specialists to facilitate and develop solutions to problems and escalate to supervisor as needed.
                • Owns relationships with team members, attends regular meetings, communicates back to team, and serves as a subject matter expert in your Revenue Cycle area’s specific knowledge.
                • Acts as a champion of new initiatives to support management to implement new processes and workflows.
                • Assemble information concerning the patient’s clinical background and clinical information that is required for the payer to issue a referral or an authorization. Per referral guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to the payer.
                • Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met. Present necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and clinical notes. Provide specific medical information to financial services to maximize reimbursement to the hospital and professional service providers
                • Performs registration functions consistent with Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies and payer requirements, and organizational policies and procedures, including HIPAA privacy and security Regulations, as well as JACHO.
                • Appropriately informs the patients of hospital policies that govern the revenue cycle, the amount owed by the patients and explains hospital payment policy. Offers option of Financial Counselors to assist with arriving at acceptable resolution of estimated patient balance.
                • Receives and properly responds to, or directs telephone and electronic inquiries from patients, payers, physicians and their staff, internal department and other persons and entities. Ability to exercise exceptional customer service skills when communicating with both our patients as well as our internal customers. Able to find resolution within the phone interaction satisfactory to the caller and/or having the knowledge when to escalate to their supervisor.
                • Performs other duties as assigned for the operational effectiveness and success of the department.
                • Interacts and collaborates with numerous departments to resolve issues while also analyzing necessary information that will ensure hospital reimbursement.
                • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Rush University Medical Center’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.                 Job Qualifications
