      INTRAVENOUS LINE INSERTION/PHLEBOTOMY·

      •Demonstrates basic understanding of procedure to be performed ensuring proper placement of PIV line to not interfere with planned procedure.
      •Provides instruction/information to patient/significant other concerning placement of IV line/care being provided. Assists in emergency situations as needed.

      •Demonstrates competency in the use of select unit specific monitors, pumps, and other equipment.
      MAINTANENCE OF HEMOSTASIS
      •Monitors arterial puncture sites on a continuous basis for any signs of unusual bleeding, reports all unexpected bleeding or changes to the site to responsible Registered Nurse.
      •Performs appropriate actions as identified in Standard of Care for Arterial Puncture sites (to be developed).
      •Recognizes signs of possible hematoma formation.
      •Responsible for providing pressure or devices as ordered by Registered Nurse or responsible MD to arterial puncture site.
      UNIT RESPONSIBILITIES
      •Checks refrigerator/freezer temperatures and documents on appropriate log, notify nursing management of any temperature discrepancies.
      •Notify MCE when defrosting of refrigerators is needed (notify Operating Room Education and Quality Coordinator. Notify Charge Nurse of any environmental or safety hazard, which are unresolved and additional assistance, is needed. Monitor procedural areas for clutter, hallway obstructions and misplaced equipment and supplies.
      •Pick-up and deliver required items as requested.
      •Responsible for the maintaining inventory, restocking supplies with supply Chain staff and identifying items needed for reorder.
      •Maintains a safe work environment: Keeps patient rooms and unit orderly according to guidelines and unit routine. Independently orders, organizes, and restocks assigned areas according to unit specifications.
      •Maintains emergency supplies.
      •Maintains a safe patient environment.

      Summary:
      The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting Physicians, Mid-Level Practitioners, and Registered Nurses with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients in an ambulatory care setting.         Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Organ Donor Care Center (per diem) Advanced Practice Provider (APP). The Organ Donor Care Center per diem APP functions as a healthcare provider who, working collaboratively with the various teams at RUSH University Medical Center and Gift of Hope, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to potential organ donors transferred to the Donor Care Unit with the goal of maximizing organ utilization. They demonstrate a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered in the brain dead and neurologically injured population. This per diem APP will provide both donor management care as well as intraoperative care to the donor throughout the entire length of stay at Rush’s downtown Chicago campus.

        *Candidates are either licensed physician assistants (PAs) or acute care certified advanced practice registered nurses (ACNPs). Applicants with experience in Transplant, or other related specialty, required. Relevant RN-level experience may be considered.

        The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the Rush University Medical Center medical staff bylaws.         Position Summary:

        •Communicate with Volunteer Services and Transport for the procurement of wheelchair assistance.
        •Assist with support for effective patient flow.
        •Ensure the work environment is clean, well-organized, safe, and presents a professional and welcoming image to customers.
        •Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and demeanor, which includes wearing proper attire and nametag when working.
        •Ensure all vendors are listed on the SharePoint site before issuing an access badge.
        •Ensure that appropriate patient information is entered into the EPIC system.
        •Collaborate with coworkers and manager on scheduling requirements and be present at assigned workstations as scheduled. Requirements may vary according to department needs.
        •Photograph, check in and issue visitor passes to guests according to the Rush Visitor Management policy.
        •Perform other duties as assigned.

        Summary:

        The RN 2 is a competent nurse who has mastered technical skills. The RN 2 identifies patterns of patient responses and can use past experiences to implement solutions for current situations. The RN 2 continues to consult with other members of the health care team when the need for assistance is identified.         Qualifications Knowledge:
        1.Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required.
        2.Maintain current BLS certification.
        3.Earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher (except RN1s hired and already working at Rush University Medical Center before October, 2012). All transfers from other Rush entities must have an earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher prior to transfer into Rush University Medical Center or Rush University Medical Group.
        a.May accept Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) effective 1/9/23 up until approved number of ADN hires by Chief Nursing Officer is met with the following stipulations:
        i.Baccalaureate degree must be earned within timeframe outlined in the ADN Condition of Employment.
        ii.All Conditions of Employment as outline in Offer Letter must be met. Failure to do so will result in termination.
        Skills:
        1.Analytical ability is required.
        2.Communication skills are required in order to lead and teach.
        3.Ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations.
        Abilities:
        1.Work requires the ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift.

        3.The ability to check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve data, and closely examine specimens, images or reports is required.
